This is exactly what places like ours are about. What happens once they graduate or age out of high school? Please help parents know that these services are available and a key support system they will need will require they connect with Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) as soon as they have a diagnosis. Waiting only delays their service once they reach their time of need!

Colin Farrell spent years protecting his son James’s privacy. But when James turned 21, Farrell began speaking publicly about a challenge many families face: support for people with intellectual disabilities can become much harder to access once they reach adulthood.

James has Angelman syndrome and is nonverbal, and Farrell acknowledged the difficult decision involved in sharing such a personal part of his son’s life. He ultimately chose to speak out because he wanted to advocate not only for James, but for other adults with intellectual disabilities and the families trying to support them.

That advocacy led to the creation of the Colin Farrell Foundation, focused on improving opportunities, resources, and long-term support for adults with intellectual disabilities.

“I want the world to be kind to James,” Farrell said. “I want the world to treat him with kindness and respect.”

It’s a simple hope, but one that points to a much bigger issue. Turning 21 shouldn’t mean suddenly losing the support, opportunities, and protections that helped someone throughout childhood.

Farrell is using his platform to bring attention to that gap—and to help build a future where people like James can continue to be supported, respected, and included throughout their adult lives.

🌪️ WELL… THAT WASN’T ON OUR 2026 CALENDAR! 😂

Mother Nature really said, “Y’all have been doing too much… TAKE A BREAK.” 😳🌧️💨

Due to the absolutely WILD freak storm that came through, our site sustained significant damage, so unfortunately we have to close temporarily while we assess the damage and get everything safe and back in order.

We’re okay, our crew is okay, and thankfully no one was in the building at the time of the storm! ❤️ That’s what matters most.

But apparently the building will need a little unexpected remodeling… courtesy of Mother Nature. 🤦‍♀️😂

We’ll keep everyone updated as we work through the repairs and figure out when we can safely reopen.

In the meantime, please send us some good vibes, prayers, positive energy, duct tape, a 15 passenger van, and places to visit that have cozy couches… 😂🙏🏽

Live Laugh Love Club will be back! 💕
Just apparently with a few more stories to tell. 😅

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued love and support! ❤️

July was filled with plenty of fun in the sun, friendship, learning, and giving back! ❤️

It started with the awesome decorations one of our families did for our club! In a true colorful summer theme, they rightfully so, made our members the stars of the club!!! Check it out! 💕🤩⭐️🌟💫

We celebrated birthdays with smiles and sweet memories, enjoyed a splash-filled adventure at Inspiration Island in Morgan'sWonderland, and got moving with an energetic Zumba with Roxie session.

Our group also had the opportunity to give back by volunteering at Good Samaritan Community Services, where we helped prepare toothbrush bags and dog food packages for their community distributions. It was a meaningful way to make a positive impact together.

To top it all off, we explored music and culture through the "Discover German Music & Culture" series, featuring Grammy-nominated musician Alex Meixner. The live accordion performances, engaging storytelling, and hands-on crafts made for a wonderful cultural experience. We are grateful to the San Antonio Public Library and Musical Bridges Around the World for hosting this inspiring program.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this month so memorable. Here's to more adventures, service, learning, and celebrations together! 🎉💙

☀️ June Adventures Recap! 🌎💙

June was packed with learning, laughter, service, and plenty of sunshine!

We kicked off the month by exploring the solar system and cooling off at the splash pad at Pearsall Park. 🚀💦

Our members continued giving back by volunteering at the Good Samaritan Community Services, making a positive impact in our community one act of kindness at a time. ❤️

We sharpened our cooking skills during our San Antonio Food Bank CHEF Class at Yates Community Center, learning healthy recipes. 🍎👩‍🍳

There was no shortage of fun as we grabbed the mic for karaoke and enjoyed games at Mic Drop Arcade , where everyone had a chance to shine! 🎤🎲

Summer officially arrived with the start of our visits to Inspiration Island at Morgan's Wonderland, where we soaked up the sun, splashed in the water, and made unforgettable memories. 🌊☀️

We kept our bodies moving with an energetic to stay healthy at Zumba with Roxie in Ingram Park Mall and continued caring for our community by watering the garden at Berkley V. & Dawson Park. 🌱💃

Every outing is an opportunity to build friendships, develop independence, stay active, and strengthen our connection to the community. Thank you to everyone who helps make these experiences possible—we can't wait to see what July has in store! 💙✨

🌞🌻 May Outing Highlights! 🌻🌞

May was a month full of exploration, learning, service, and fun!

We started the month with a visit to Morgan's Wonderland, where everyone enjoyed a day of adventure, laughter, and inclusive fun. We also took advantage of the beautiful weather with a relaxing picnic at the park, spending time outdoors with friends.

Our group explored art and culture by visiting a replica of Casa Azul, learning more about the life and legacy of Frida Kahlo, and the impact her creativity continues to have around the world.

One of our most meaningful experiences was volunteering with the Travis Manion Foundation to honor our fallen soldiers by placing tokens on their headstones. It was a powerful opportunity to reflect on service, sacrifice, and gratitude as we gave back to our community.

We also enjoyed discovering local treasures at Make Ready Market and expanded our knowledge of our region's natural resources during a visit to the EAA Education Outreach Center, where we learned about the Edward's Aquifer, water conservation, local wildlife, and the importance of protecting our environment.

From adventure and education to community service and friendship, May was filled with memorable experiences that helped us learn, grow, and connect with the world around us.

📸 Take a look at some of our favorite moments from the month!

“Starting around June 1, families can use two tools to find nearby sites serving no-cost meals for children 18 and younger ─ VISIT SummerFood.org or CALL 2-1-1. In addition to locating a site, it’s important to frequently use these tools to confirm dates and times and gather more information about meal services.”
This is at NO COST and do not require registration!
