South San Antonio ISD proudly celebrates Brayden Booth on his commitment to the University of North Carolina, where he will continue his academic and athletic journey playing for legendary coach Bill Belichick, an 8-time Super Bowl Champion!

Brayden’s hard work and dedication have earned him this incredible opportunity, and the entire South San Antonio ISD community couldn't be more proud. We can't wait to see all that he accomplishes at the next level🐾✨

South San Antonio ISD is excited to welcome Marisa L. Garcia as the new Principal of Benavidez Elementary School! ❤️💙

Principal Garcia began her educational journey in 2013 as a classroom teacher at Walzem Elementary before serving as an ELAR Instructional Coach and, most recently, Assistant Principal at Windcrest Elementary for the past five years. As a proud UTSA graduate, she holds degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies and Educational Leadership.

We are excited for the experience, leadership, and passion for student success she will bring to the Benavidez Elementary community. Please join us in welcoming Principal Garcia to SSAISD and the Patriot family!

⭐️Introducing our new Bobcat Alumni Legacy series!💙🐾

🎓A proud South San alumnus, Eugene Tovar's journey began at Hutchins Elementary, continued through Kazen Middle School, and led him to South San Antonio High School, where he was a proud member of the baseball and football teams.

After graduating, Tovar earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word. Today, he continues to serve the community that helped shape him as South San Antonio ISD's Chief of Police and District Emergency Management Coordinator.

Dedicated to protecting and supporting future generations of Bobcats, Tovar has spent his career giving back to the district he once called home, helping create a safe and thriving environment for students, staff, and families.

Reflecting on his time as a student, Tovar shares, “I look back and realize the teachers throughout my academic years were not just teachers, but mentors.”

His story is a testament to the lasting impact of South San Antonio educators and the power of alumni who return to strengthen the community that invested in them.👏

🎓 Orgulloso exalumno de South San, la trayectoria de Eugene Tovar comenzó en la Primaria Hutchins, continuó en la Secundaria Kazen y lo llevó a la Preparatoria South San Antonio, donde formó parte de los equipos de béisbol y fútbol americano.

Tras graduarse, Tovar obtuvo una Maestría en Administración de Empresas de la Universidad de Incarnate Word. Hoy, continúa sirviendo a la comunidad que contribuyó a su formación como Jefe de Policía y Coordinador de Manejo de Emergencias del Distrito de South San Antonio ISD.

Comprometido con la protección y el bienestar de las futuras generaciones de Bobcats, Tovar ha dedicado su carrera a retribuir al distrito que alguna vez fue su hogar, ayudando a crear un entorno seguro y próspero para estudiantes, personal y familias.

Al recordar sus años como estudiante, Tovar comparte: “Al mirar hacia atrás, me doy cuenta de que los maestros que tuve a lo largo de mi formación académica no fueron solo maestros, sino también mentores”.

📣IMPORTANT Summer Meals Update

Please note that Carrillo Elementary will serve free summer meals through Thursday, June 11.

✅🍽️Beginning Monday, June 15, families may visit Price Elementary School for free breakfast and lunch meals. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Please refer to the Summer Meals information above for all available meal sites and schedules. You can reach our Child Nutrition department at 210-977-7525 for additional assistance.

👏SSAISD is committed to making sure every student has access to the nutrition they need this summer.

📣IMPORTANTE: Actualización sobre las Comidas de Verano

Les informamos que la Escuela Primaria Carrillo continuará ofreciendo comidas gratuitas de verano hasta el jueves 11 de junio.

✅🍽️ A partir del lunes 15 de junio, las familias podrán acudir a la Escuela Primaria Price para recibir desayuno y almuerzo gratuitos. El desayuno se servirá de 8:00 a.m. a 9:30 a.m. y el almuerzo de 11:00 a.m. a 12:30 p.m.

South San Antonio ISD is proud to welcome Lauren Kratzenberg as the new Principal of Palo Alto Elementary School!

Principal Kratzenberg brings 13 years of experience in education and a passion for helping students and schools grow.

Originally from Massachusetts, she
moved to San Antonio during high school and graduated from Madison High School before earning both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in School Administration from UTSA.

Her career began as a paraprofessional and teaching assistant before becoming a classroom teacher. She later taught fourth grade at Camelot Elementary and most recently served as Assistant Principal at Dellview Elementary, where she focused on strengthening instruction, supporting teachers, and helping students achieve success through collaboration and continuous improvement.

Please join us in giving Principal Kratzenberg a warm welcome to the Palo Alto Elementary Rams family and South San Antonio ISD!
