A grateful city and region came together to say “thank you” and “see you later” to Major General (U.S. Marine Corps-retired) Juan Ayala as he retires from his role as the City of San Antonio Military and Veteran Affairs Department Director.

For nearly a decade, General Ayala has been a driving force behind the success, growth, and protection of our military community, helping strengthen the partnership between Joint Base San Antonio and the greater San Antonio region. Through his leadership, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to service, he has helped advance initiatives that support our service members, veterans, military families, and the economic vitality of Military City USA.

His impact will be felt for generations, and his legacy of service, advocacy, and leadership will continue to inspire our community. Thank you, General Ayala, for your extraordinary dedication to San Antonio, our military community, and our nation. We wish you the very best in your next chapter.
