🚨 Structure Fire – 100 Block of Waycross Rd 🚨

This afternoon at approximately 1:45 PM, units from Ata-Bexar County Line Volunteer Fire Department and Leming Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the 100 block of Waycross Road for a reported grass fire.

Due to dry conditions and wind, the fire spread rapidly and escalated into multiple structures becoming involved.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions and immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack while working to protect nearby homes and contain the spread. Additional resources were requested to assist with fire suppression and exposure protection.

Thanks to the quick actions of responding firefighters and mutual aid partners, Poteet Volunteer Fire Department, Jourdanton Volunteer Fire Department, City of Pleasanton Fire Department, Bexar County 2 Fire Department, Bexar County District 5 Fire Department, Bexar County ESD # 10 Fire Division, San Antonio Police Department, and San Antonio Fire Department, crews were able to bring the incident under control and prevent further loss.

We would like to send a huge shout out to Atascosa County Fire Marshal / Office of Emergency Management, Bexar County Fire Marshal/Office of Emergency Management, Atascosa County Sheriff's Office, Bexar County Sheriff's Office, Southside ISD Police Department, and Bexar County Constable's Office Precinct 2/Constable Leticia Rodriguez Vazquez for their assistance and support as well.
We would like to remind the public that conditions remain extremely dry, and even a small spark can quickly turn into a dangerous situation. Please avoid any outdoor burning and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately.

🙏 We are grateful for the support of our neighboring departments and the community.
