Follow the "rule of thumb." Place your thumb in between your eye and the animal with your arm fully extended. If you can block out the view of the animal, you are at a safe distance.

Remember to pack water for you and your party, including your furred friends.

There are water fountains and water bottle filling stations at the entrances, but there are not water fountains on the 7.5 miles of trails within the park.
