Out of curiosity: During your research have you learned or learned more about particularly interesting ancestors? Ones who did unique things, went amazing places, overcame daunting obstacles, maybe became famous? Anything worthy of praise or remembrance?

My sister will almost certainly have this image, but I came across a 3rd or 1st cousin twice removed on Ancestry tonight when I began looking for the name of the town where Mom was born (Collinsville, Texas). I tried enhancing and colorizing it, but the old sepia print doesn't allow for much of that.

As best I can guess from the situation and the look, Dad was probably a Cadet at North Texas Agricultural College at about 19 years old, and she would've been about 17. This would've been about a year before they married in Wichita Falls, Texas, and he shipped off to the Air Force, and she moved in with my Great Uncle Charles, for whom I'm named, and my Great Aunt Mary.

These are mostly just guesses. Some genealogist I am.

Parents & grandparents, I'd like to issue you a challenge:

I challenge you to sit down on a couch or a table with your grandchildren and pull out photos of you or your spouse, preferably close in age to your young ones, and let all the memories come to your mind as you reminisce.

Did you have a pet?
What was your best friends’ name?
Were you good at a particular subject at school? Bad at one?
Did you play a sport?
What do you remember about your bike?
Did you ever have to fight a bully?
Did you ever get into trouble? What was the punishment? What did you learn from that?
Who did you like?
Who was your favorite teacher?

If we don't share our stories with future generations, they're lost. And doing this will not only be enjoyable for the bulk of you, but you'll also live on in their memories.

P.S. Record this time on video. Save it like a treasured keepsake.

I’m going to see this this evening.
