The new outdoor Gaga Ball pit will give approximately 500+ K–5 students opportunities for physical activity, teamwork, positive peer interaction and social-emotional growth -all through play! 🤝🏃‍♂️

Olmos Elementary educator Debbie Mollicone is receiving $3,419.56 for “STEM in Action: Inspiring Possibilities.”
Approximately 501 K–5 students will get hands-on opportunities with coding and robotics designed to spark curiosity, build STEM skills and open doors to future possibilities.

🎉 Our good news keeps rolling in, and this one is going to be a BALL!

Our 3rd grade teacher and PTA sponsor, Morgan Nussdorfer, and our PE Coach, Rudy Bagnato, are receiving a $7,500 grant for their “Gaga Pit to Build Interpersonal Skills” project! 🎉 (Special thank you to our former PE Coach, Carly Green, for working hard to submit this NEEF grant for our Owls! 🥰)

That means a brand-new outdoor Gaga Ball pit is coming to Olmos, giving all our K-5 students opportunities to get moving, build teamwork, practice positive peer interaction, and grow their social-emotional skills… all through PLAY! 🏃‍♂️🤝

Thank you AGAIN to the North East Educational Foundation and grant sponsor Pfluger Architects for investing in our students and helping make this exciting project possible! 👏

We can’t wait to see our Owls step into the pit, cheer each other on, and show us what teamwork looks like! 🤗💙

🌟 BIG NEWS, OLMS OWLS! 🌟 We have robots! We have STEM materials! And we have an incredible grant to make it all happen! 🤖🎉

Today, all our students and staff were surprised during a special assembly where the NEEF Grants Committee presented Olmos with a check for $3,419.56 for our STEM in Action grant! 🤩

This grant is bringing hands-on STEM experiences to ALL of our K-5 students during their SMARTE lab rotation with Mrs. Maldonado. And the excitement doesn’t stop there! These new materials will also fuel creativity, coding, and innovation in our 4th and 5th grade Girls Owlettes Who Code Club and Boys Techno-OWLS Coding Club with Mrs. Mollicone! 💻🤖

From curious kindergarteners to future innovators, this grant is opening doors for our Olmos Owls to imagine, create, problem-solve, and bring their ideas to life! ✨

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16th, is Diez y Seis de Septiembre, a special day to celebrate Mexican culture and heritage! 🇲🇽

We invite students to wear clothing that represents Hispanic culture as we celebrate the vibrant traditions, cultures, and contributions of the Hispanic community❣️

Let’s fill Olmos with color, culture, and pride! 🤩

We had SO many students and staff make their mark for Dot Day❣️ From big dots to little dots, dot accessories, dots drawn on faces, sticker dots, and so many more, our Olmos Owls showed that creativity comes in all shapes and sizes! 🤗
