OLLU Police Department

OLLU Police Department The OLLU Police Department consists of the chief of police, 13 police officers and an administrative clerk.

The University Police Department provides assistance and service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to ensure protection for approximately 3,500 students, faculty, staff and visitors of the University community. The statutory authority for the existence of OLLU Police Department and each University Police Officer is derived through legislative action and defined in the Texas Education and Penal Codes.

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standard and Education licenses all University Police Officers. OLLU Police Department has concurrent jurisdiction with the San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Sheriff's Office and Bexar County Precinct 1, within whose jurisdiction the University is physically located. University Police personnel also work closely with the

• San Antonio Police Department,
• Bexar County Sheriff's Office,
• Bexar County District Attorney,
• adjacent school district police departments,
• and all Federal Agencies

to exchange information and conduct joint investigations of matters that occur on and around the University property. About the Officers
University Police Officers are First Aid and CPR certified. They are trained to handle a full range of community services, including assistance with all medical emergencies, fires, alarm responses, traffic accident investigations, and suspicious activity reports, escorts, vehicle unlocks, providing jump-starts, and vehicle assistance as needed. University Police Officers are also responsible for enforcing all Texas State Laws including University Police Officers policies regarding the regulation of underage drinking, use of controlled substances and weapons on university property. In addition, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and education (TCLEOSE) mandates all peace officers to take 40 hours of continuing education classes every two years.
