Judge Monique Diaz Judge, 150th District Court, Bexar County, Texas I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and law degree from St.
(1)

I was born in San Antonio, Texas, where my two brothers and I were raised by our Puerto Rican mother and Dominican father. Mary’s University School of Law. I dedicated my career to studying and working with underprivileged families and children. After working with the Child Support Division of the Attorney General’s Office, and the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in law school, I open

ed my own general law practice. For almost a decade, I represented low-income families, victims of domestic violence, civil litigants and small businesses. In the public sector, I represented non-profit and government agencies, and served as a City Attorney and City Prosecutor for municipalities statewide. My upbringing, education, and experience drove me to dedicate my life to public service. I was elected to the bench in 2018 and am honored to serve as your Judge of the 150th Civil District Court in Bexar County, Texas, where I preside over civil cases involving family law, domestic violence, consumer law, personal injury, medical malpractice, contracts, real estate, oil and gas and more. I also proudly serve as your Co-Chair of the Collaborative Commission on Domestic Violence, where we convene leaders in the judiciary, law enforcement, nonprofits, healthcare, education, legal and faith-based communities to identify gaps and implement strategies in our community to prevent and improve our collective response to domestic violence.

From the first female judge in the United States in 1870, to San Antonio becoming the first major Texas city with an all-female Civil District Court bench, we've made incredible strides with our sisters-in-law. But, we aren't done yet! In case you missed it, yesterday was International Day of Women Judges. We’re grateful to those who paved the way before us, and applaud those who continue to serve and make history!
