, veterans, community supporters, and family members of the Weslaco 8 gathered on the rooftop of the former Military Entrance Processing Station building in San Antonio to honor the legacy of eight young men from Weslaco, Texas, who enlisted together in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Enlisting side by side during a time of global conflict, the Weslaco 8 answered the nation’s call with courage and unity, embodying the Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment.
The plaque induction ceremony included the placement of rank insignia on memorial crosses, symbolizing the service and sacrifice of these Marines. Active-duty and retired service members from all branches stood alongside the families of the Weslaco 8, underscoring that the impact of service extends beyond the individual Marine and across generations. More than a remembrance, the ceremony bridged past and present—connecting today’s Marines and communities to a legacy of shared sacrifice that will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸
