Grateful to have partnered with District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur for our latest Project Marvel Roundtable, focused on affordable housing in the proposed Sports & Entertainment District.

Thank you to everyone who came out, shared their ideas, and helped make this an important conversation about how we can plan for development while keeping San Antonio residents at the center. We also couldn’t have done it without our incredible participants— thank you so much!

We’re looking forward to continuing these conversations and hearing directly from our community about the future of Project Marvel. Stay tuned for our next roundtable, focused on the voices and priorities of San Antonio’s labor community.

I was happy to team up with District 5 Councilwoman Teri Castillo to focus on affordable downtown housing in the proposed Sports & Entertainment District. We know there are differing views about the district, including questions about affordability, development, investment, and its impact on our community, and those perspectives matter.

As this proposal moves forward, it’s important that we have open and thoughtful conversations about what downtown growth should look like and how we can ensure residents have access to safe, affordable housing and a place in our city’s future.

Thank you to our panelists for sharing their perspectives and to everyone who joined us. Conversations like this are an important part of understanding the opportunities and challenges ahead as we consider the future of our downtown.

A historic step for housing in our city!
Today, City Council took action to officially designate the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center’s Community Land Trust! 🏘
What does this mean? More permanently affordable housing options for people and families earning up to 30% of the city’s median income.
This is what community-led housing justice looks like, keeping land in the hands of the community, creating lasting affordability, and expanding opportunities.

Today, our City Manager appointed Chief Jesse Salame as the new Chief of the San Antonio Police Department, and I look forward to voting YES with full confidence on his appointment.
Chief Salame is a proud San Antonio native who brings decades of law enforcement experience, leadership, and a deep understanding of our community. At a time when strong, experienced leadership matters, I believe Chief Salame is the right person to lead our police department and help keep our city safe.
I look forward to supporting his appointment and working with him to build an even safer and stronger San Antonio.
