⚽ SAN ANSELMO WORLD CUP IS HERE ⚽

Memorial Park | June 12 – July 19

Hi everyone,

The San Anselmo World Cup is officially taking shape and it’s built by the community, for the community.

Thank you to everyone who signed up to stay updated. Since we don’t have official Instagram or TikTok accounts, email and word of mouth will keep this moving. You can also follow updates through the San Anselmo Recreation Department or the San Anselmo Community page.

But the real way to experience this? Show up.

Come hang out. Play a game. Watch a match. Bring your kids, your friends, your neighbors. And if something feels missing jump in and help build it. This project belongs to everyone.

A QUICK BACKSTORY

My name is Gabe Turner. I’m a San Anselmo resident and lifelong soccer fan. I was born in Montevideo and grew up in California, but whenever I returned to Uruguay, fútbol was everywhere in cafés, on TVs, and especially in the streets.

With the World Cup returning to the United States, we wanted to bring that same energy home.

Over the past few weeks, volunteers have transformed the lower tennis courts at Memorial Park into two futsal courts. What used to be worn-down space is now something alive again thanks to builders, artists, neighbors, and the San Anselmo Recreation Department stepping up and saying yes. Huge gratitude to everyone who made it happen. A very special thanks to all the financial sponsors who are your local small businesses!

⚽ KICKOFF DAY — FRIDAY, JUNE 12

• 2:00 PM — Pickup games begin
• 5:00 PM — USA vs Portugal on the big screen (pregame starts)

• Bring chairs, blankets, and your US gear

DAILY PLAY + EVENTS

From June 12 through July 19:

• Free pickup soccer every day
• Weekdays: 4–8 PM
• Weekends: 12–8 PM
• Skills clinics + coaching sessions
• Finals tournament with age divisions

For years, I’ve been saying that what makes San Anselmo special isn’t the town itself, it’s the people in our community!

The restaurant owners who show up before sunrise. The shop owners who know their customers by name. The service providers who sponsor Little League teams, donate to school fundraisers, volunteer at community events, entrepreneurs who work hard every day to create the character and charm that so many of you love, and help make our town feel like home.
