SN Meyer was recently voted as Station Humboldt Bay’s Sailor of the Quarter! SN Meyer reported to the station in November and hit the ground running! She was even recognized by the Pacific Area Commander for all her hard work and dedication to the Coast Guard! Bravo Zulu!

Many members of the crew were recognized at quarters last week! First, 6 members were recognized for their help preparing for a Hazmat inspection which lead to a flawless inspection. Secondly, SN Saylors and SN Harvey were recognized for standing all of the watch during Station Humboldt Bay’s boat crew college. Third, BM3 Sanetrik was recognized for his dedication to duty during the recent transition to the Coast Guard’s service weapon. And last, BM2 Martinez was awarded a Good Conduct Medal.

All wrapped up! Yesterday marked the end of the Boat Crew College! Students finished out the two weeks with some competition! Teams were divided and everyone put what they learned to the test. Three stages were set up to encompass each task that was taught these two weeks. Bravo Zulu to all 12 students on a long two weeks of training!

Station Humboldt Bay’s Boat Crew College wrapped up week one on Saturday! New members from Station Humboldt Bay and Station Noyo River are here to learn all parts of being a motor life boat crew member. Students endured pouring rain and plenty of windy days accomplishing surface swimmer techniques as well as various types of towing. Stay tuned for this weeks photos!

Today, newly reported members from Station Humboldt Bay and Station Noyo River visited Sector Humboldt Bay as part of an immersive “Boat Crew College” training. Helicopter familiarization, rescue techniques, and a Command Center tour were the focus of today’s training.

Learning, training, and preparing as a team ensures that when we are called into action, we don’t just get it right - we can’t get it wrong!

Last week the duty crew had the chance to conduct some damage control training! Each member was given the opportunity to combat various types of flooding. After each member had the chance to “plug-n-patch”, the crew was given the word to abandon ship!

On Friday, the Station hosted Coast Guard day with the outlying units as well as Sector Humboldt Bay! We celebrated the 233rd birthday of the Coast Guard with some bounce houses, volleyball, a corn hole tournament and a special visit from one of the Sector aircraft’s! Thank you to the Chiefs Mess for cooking up plenty of food for everyone who attended!
