Our Seniors had a wonderful time watching Rohan Sengupta and his crew of elementary school children perform a play for them on Friday, August 1st!

Rohan and his team performed the Magic Bookstore, a play written, produced, and directed by him for our seniors at the Beaver Lake Community center. The 70 member audience of Sammamish seniors lit up with smiles, laughter and recognition as scenes delivered by 10 year old actors unfolded.

The play is a heartwarming theatrical journey set in a seemingly ordinary bookstore where the stories of Goldilocks, Jack and the Beanstalk come to life after hours and captured the importance of preserving memory, imagination, and human connection.

This is the second year in a row that Rohan and the talented little school children have performed for the seniors, bringing joy and connection and wellness to our local senior community at Sammamish.

Kudos and we look forward to more such performances!

Thanks Rohan and team ( Arundhati Sengupta)

It was a proud moment for the India Association of Western Washington (IAWW) when its Sammamish Cross-Cultural Seniors Program completed a year in existence on March 15,2024!
This program has been very well received and appreciated, with almost 40-50 in attendance on average per session.

On March 15, exactly a year since the program was launched, we hosted a wonderful celebration to commemorate this.

City officials, volunteers and instructors who have helped make this program, successful all the present along with the seniors and staff.

The day started as usual with yoga targeted towards grounding them with its mental and physical wellness benefits .
This was followed by wonderful Indian and Chinese dance performances.
The Indian dances represented folk and fusion styles and were performed by IACS staff member Poonam Kataria and her friend Pooja Saini .

These were interspersed with fascinating Chinese dance segments including the “Chinese Opera” and "Umbrella Dance performed by the Washington Beijing Tongxianghui Association

We fittingly ended the program with offering our thanks to volunteers and others with gift bags containing beautiful coasters painted by our seniors.

Lunch was even more special than usual with treats representing diverse origins and flavors.

The IACS Sammamish Senior Program team is looking forward to its next successful year with many exciting offerings and fun for our much loved seniors.
