North Wash boat ramp construction in conjunction with Utah Department of Natural Resources, Utah Public Lands Policy Coordinating Office , Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation, and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is officially set!

• Construction begins tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31
• Expected through early May (~May 9)

If you’re planning a trip through Cataract Canyon this spring, plan ahead:

• The new ramp will NOT be available during construction
• The existing ramp will stay open most of the time—but expect temporary closures up to 5 hours
• Active construction = heavy equipment on site

Best ways to avoid delays:

• Take out Friday–Sunday or outside work hours (before 7am / after 6pm Mon–Thurs)
• Consider alternate takeouts at Bullfrog or Halls Crossing
• Unload passengers upstream (just past Hwy 95 bridge) to keep things moving

We know this is an inconvenience—but it’s a critical step to keep access open long-term as conditions at Lake Powell continue to change.

There has been a lot of discussion lately in the news about the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument plan and the Congressional Review Act. This op-ed by Senator Mike Lee does a good job of explaining the issue and relevancy of this discussion in Congress. Ultimately, there will still be a plan for the monument and this action doesn't eliminate the mineral withdrawls that are currently in place.

To be clear, no one is voting to dynamite Bryce Canyon. No one is proposing to pave Zion

Active management of our public lands helps keep water flowing for Utahns. This aqueduct carries water from the Ashley National Forest through critical infrastructures to communities across the state. You might not always be able to see it but thoughtful stewardship and collaboration on our public lands is making a difference every day.

🔊Do you recreate in the Labyrinth Rims/Gemini Bridges Travel Management Area (TMA)? The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is reassessing the off-road vehicle (OHV) route designations within the area near Moab.

The 2023 TMP Final Decision initially closed 317.4 miles of routes. Our analysis of the reassessment confirms that a total of 223 routes (141 miles) initially designated as closed in the 2023 TMP are now being reassessed as Open or Limited to Seasonal Use. Zero routes currently open are being reassessed for closure. The focus is entirely on restoring access, not limiting it further.

The BLM has OPENED a public comment period until Oct. 24, 2025. Share your stories about how and why this access to the area is important to you, your family and friends.
