Utahns are doing their part - changing how they use water, educating their communities, documenting what’s happening, and speaking up for the lake. Protecting the Great Salt Lake isn’t someone else’s responsibility. It belongs to all of us.

But individual action can only take us so far. We need leaders willing to make hard decisions, invest in long-term solutions, and treat the health of the Great Salt Lake like the emergency it is. That means protecting our water, planning responsibly for growth, and making sure conservation isn’t just something we ask of individual Utahns.

Utahns are showing up. We need leaders ready to meet them there and do their part, too.

Who could've guessed there might be consequences to handing out badges before finishing background checks?

This kind of corner-cutting doesn’t happen in a vacuum. When one agency is told to lower the bar, others can’t be far behind.

ICE needs serious, wholesale, systemic reform. No more shortcuts. No more excuses.

An official who oversaw the vetting of ICE recruits cited an “unprecedented lowering of standards” amid a hiring surge.

Utahns are heading into the most expensive Labor Day weekend ever recorded, with gas prices at a record high and travel costs and cookout staples taking an even bigger bite out of family budgets.

We’re being squeezed from every direction while Republicans keep claiming they’re delivering affordability.

The corruption is so shameless that those in power don't even seem interested in pretending the rules apply to them.

When public office becomes a cash register for those in power, the problem isn’t just corruption and greed. It’s the deliberate abuse of public trust for private gain.

We deserve leaders where the rules actually mean something, where power comes with great responsibility, and where public office serves the people of this country, not the powerful.

Supporting good candidates in down-ballot races matters to me as much as anything happening at the top of the ticket – this year and every year. There's one candidate in particular I want to start by highlighting.

Jake Fitisemanu was a West Valley City Councilman, then flipped House District 30 from red to blue in 2024 because voters trusted him to keep showing up for them. I've worked alongside Jake for years. He is incredibly thoughtful and curious, listens before he legislates, and truly looks out for his neighbors. That's the kind of leader this state needs more of.
