TRAIL WORK WORTH BRAGGING ABOUT? WE THINK SO!!🐴

Central Utah might be known for its mountain bike and motorized trails, but there are plenty of equestrian adventures to be found here, too!

Our Central Region Trail Crew has been putting in the work on equestrian trails across the Fishlake and Manti-La Sal National Forests, from clearing fallen trees and repairing tread to installing signs, bridges, and re-routes.

Big news, we’re launching the new Utah Boating Recreation Grant to help communities meet growing demand for boating recreation — supporting everything from ramps and docks to shoreline protection, launch access and search & rescue equipment.

Applications are open Sept. 1–Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. 🗓️

WILDFIRE? Oh honey, you flatter us 💅🏼

Jokes aside, our Southeast Trail Crew went to work in the Moab Ranger District after the 2025 Deer Creek Fire heavily impacted the Upper and Lower Two Mile ATV Trail
The crew focused on restoring drainage, addressing erosion, clearing vegetation, and improving the trail corridor. Where erosion had taken over a section of trail and pushed it into Two Mile Creek, they built a small reroute to create a safer, more sustainable path forward.
In total, the crew improved 7 miles of rough, demanding trail.

What is this, GRANT CITY???

Buckle up buttercup ‘cuz we’re bringing even more funding your way with the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program (ORLP).

The ORLP is a nationally competitive grant program administered by the National Park Service that provides funding to enhance regionally significant recreation spaces. Offering both acquisition and development funding in amounts up to $15M, the ORLP is intended to support populations serving 25,000 residents or more.

Local governments that meet the minimum population threshold or any tribal governments are encouraged to apply or reach out to 📩 [email protected] 📩for more information.

OLRP stateside applications are open 8/1/26 though 9/15/26.

EVEN. MORE. GRANTS. AYOOOO!

That’s right, our Youth Engagement Grant cycle opens today, and we are ready to help you bring the magic of the outdoors to youth across the state! Which grant fits your vision?

Are you a non-profit, city, or tribal organization interested in taking youth on a kayaking
adventure or hosting a summer camp? Or maybe you’d like to create an outdoor climbing
club or take your after school group on a fishing trip? Apply for the UCORE Grant to
cover programming costs, insurance, and travel!

Are you an educator hoping to purchase binoculars to take your class on a birding
excursion, or take your class to the Great Salt Lake? Maybe you’re a principal wanting to
organize an overnight campout for your school? Apply for UCORE Educator Grant, new
this year and especially for formal educators!

Or maybe you’re a school, city, non-profit, or tribal organization that wants to build an
outdoor classroom, green schoolyard, or wildlife viewing station! The Nature-Based
Learning Infrastructure Grant funds a wide variety of permanent outdoor learning
structures, such as green schoolyards and wildlife viewing stations.

Up to $15,000 is available for each of the three grants. Applications are open until
September 21st! Reach out to our grant administrator for a completeness review of your
application up until September 4th.

GET ‘DEM YOUFFTHS LEARNT!

Do your kids have their state-required OHV education certs? No?? Well, great news – we’re offering more youth OHV classes than ever including our all-new SxS / UTV courses!

We’ll cover essential safety skills, Utah OHV laws, and responsible riding practices through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on instruction, helping riders build confidence and operate safely on the trail.

“I’M THE TRASH MAN — I come out, I throw trash all over the ring! And then I start eatin’ garbage!”

Errrrr, sorta the opposite actually! Check out these litter hauls collected by our Central Trail Crew during their day-to-day trail work. This is a great reminder to follow Leave No Trace principles and remember that if you pack it in, you pack it out.

Seriously, don’t be the trash man — make sure to always clean up after yourself so other recreators can experience the outdoors without litter. With less trash to clean up, our crews can focus on the trails you love. Plus, you really think you could out trash Frank Reynolds??? Suuuuuurree bro, sure…
