Trauma is a deep emotional wound from a painful event. It changes how the brain and body work. It traps people in a cycle of "survival mode." It shows up as strong physical and mental reactions to everyday things.

Pride Month is a celebration of resilience, identity, and community but itโ€™s also a reminder that LGBTQ+ individuals continue to face disproportionately high rates of sexual violence. This Pride Month we reaffirm that prevention, advocacy, and healing must include everyone. ๐ŸŒˆ

Note NSVRC: This analysis includes a breakout of various sexual identities by gender. Due to the number of respondents by gender, researchers could only analyze data of women and men by sexual identity. Researchers could not analyze data on genders other than women and men, and could not specifically analyze data based on sexual identity of transgender respondents.

The R**e Culture Pyramid does not measure or rank types of harm. It shows how behaviors, beliefs, and systems are built on and work in conjunction with one another. Tolerance of the behaviors at the bottom supports or excuses those higher up.

R**e culture is not just about individual actions or behaviors, but rather exists within all relationship dynamics, cultural beliefs, and larger societal systems.
