Salt Lake City School District is looking for student leaders! 📚

The SLCSD Student Advisory Council (SAC) is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 school year. This is a chance for high school juniors and seniors to share their perspectives directly with district leadership and the Board of Education and help shape decisions that affect students across Salt Lake City. If you know a student who would be a great fit, encourage them to apply by Aug. 25 at slcschools.org/student-advisory-council.

Under a statewide restriction announced by Gov. Cox today, personal fireworks are prohibited throughout Salt Lake City and across Utah through July 5.

We are asking everyone to prioritize safety, follow the statewide restriction and help protect our neighborhoods, firefighters and natural spaces by celebrating without personal fireworks this summer.

We encourage residents looking for ways to celebrate to attend organized events, including ’ drone shows on July 3 at Jordan Park and July 24 at Liberty Park.

Tras una restricción estatal anunciada hoy por el gobernador Cox, el uso de fuegos artificiales de uso personal está prohibido en todo Salt Lake City y en Utah hasta el 5 de julio.
