Kimberlin Correa gave a Dignity at the End of Life presentation at the Utah Housing Coalition’s Housing Matters Conference! (She was added last-minute when the scheduled speaker’s flight was cancelled). Her talk focused on the need for more end-of-life care beds for people experiencing homelessness, and she shared her experience of starting The INN Between with the goal of inspiring others to take action. Several directors of Utah warming centers shared their struggle with the gap in hospice beds, and Kimberlin looks forward to continuing the conversation and helping them navigate potential solutions.

Throughout the conference, Kimberlin has encouraged permanent supportive housing developers to designate one micro-unit for short-term hospice/recuperative care. This approach would go a long way to ensuring that the terminally ill homeless folks have dignity, comfort, and access to hospice care as they face the end of life.

Over the weekend, more than 200 residents in Midvale lost their homes to a fire none of them saw coming 💔

Together with Airbnb.org, we've already helped more than 40 of those residents access free temporary housing this weekend, with our 211 Utah team on the ground at Union Middle School continuing that work today and tomorrow.

If you're wondering how to help, here's the most useful thing you can do right now: many residents lost everyday essentials, and some won't know exactly what's recoverable until they're allowed back into the building later this week. Clean clothing and household items are needed most.
