A slow moving system will continue to bring rain this morning for much of MT. This will continue through the day and tonight. Some thunderstorms are possible over the mountains of N-WY this afternoon. IFR is possible at times this morning for MT near the Canadian border.

A system moving along the Canadian border will continue to bring rain to much of MT today. Look for widespread areas of Mtn Obsc and IFR in MT today. Thunderstorms are possible for N-WY mountains this afternoon.

Moisture and instability will result in widely scattered thunderstorms and even marginal risk of severe thunderstorms for NW and far SE ZLC airspace (including gusty winds and/or large hail).

Moisture and instability will bring slight risk of severe thunderstorms for the Pacific Northwest states (including threats for gusty winds, large hail, and even a remote chance of a tornado). Areas of turbulence and mtn waves will also impact S ZLC airspace.

Instability will produce scattered thunderstorms over OR-ID-MT. Isolated thunderstorm activity over WY and western NV. Strong 150-FL180 winds provides broad low level turbulence with severe conditions possible over western UT-east NV. See latest Sigmet.

A slow moving system will bring widespread thunderstorms to ZLC today. Some rain showers are ongoing already this morning. Thunderstorms will start developing later this morning into early afternoon over the higher terrain. MT will look to see the strongest thunderstorms today, with the main concern being wind.

Expect increasing instability especially across central sections of ZLC today for widely scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. A few storms could produce gusty/erratic outflow winds. Thunderstorm risk spreads northward on Monday.

Weak instability today across the southern sections of ZLC will provide a few isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. A few showers will also be possible over MT.

A cold front pushes southward over ZLC airspace on Thursday bringing light rain/snow showers. Widely scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon across E ZLC.

05/20/2026

Widely scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon across the northern half of ZLC airspace. Areas of MVFR-IFR conditions, icing, and turbulence are also expected.
