When it comes to financial services and technology, “a lot of people are watching Utah…and blockchain is a critical part of that future.”

Maintaining our edge in innovation means investing in novel technologies like blockchain and supporting the talent, companies, and ideas that drive these crucial sectors forward.

Today, GOED awarded Lunar Resources a post-performance tax reduction to support its continued expansion in the state. The incentive is part of the state’s Economic Development Tax Increment Financing (EDTIF) program.

Lunar Resources is an industrial technology company advancing cutting-edge processes and systems to drive industrial innovation for terrestrial, space, lunar, and martian operations, which enables humanity's expansion into new frontiers.

A key component of its technology is the Helix Driver — a pulsed-power device designed for rapid buffering and discharge. Unlike other systems, which provide a steady energy flow, this technology delivers energy in high-power pulses, enabling customizable delivery for specific applications.

This technology is revolutionizing grid applications, microelectronic systems, and power devices, enhancing reliability, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.

With the incentive, LUNAR’s proposed HELIX-1 factory is expected to create over 400 new jobs and invest approximately $47,335,857 in Utah during the next 10 years. It is expected to be the largest pulsed power manufacturing facility in the country.

As we work to advance 's economy, we must have a long-term view and a collaborative approach.

For data centers specifically, we can build our economy and job opportunities while also protecting water resources, air quality, wildlife, and utility rates — and provide opportunities for transparent, meaningful, and thorough public engagement.

The same is true of similar large projects statewide — in fact, this degree of collaboration and coordination is central to our economic development plan.

Today, Gov. Spencer J. Cox launched “Utah Elevated” — a strategic plan to guide economic development statewide.

And because this is Utah, the effort is being coordinated across industry and government, including four bills ceremonially signed that back up central parts of the plan.

The short version: we're doubling down on the social capital that makes special. Through the highly coordinated work of GOED and statewide partners, we'll aim to build opportunity and livability throughout the state.

GOED will operate as a connector, convener, and catalyzer — bringing the right partners to the table across government and industry to match the opportunities in front of us.
