Today, as part of its EDTIF and REDTIF programs, GOED awarded five companies a post-performance tax reduction to aid their upcoming expansions within Utah.

A1 Lithium is a company engaged in the exploration and development of critical minerals with the aim of supplying high-purity lithium carbonate for EVs and energy storage by employing environmentally friendly extraction methods.

Gauss Management Research and Engineering is a veteran-owned defense engineering and systems integration company that focuses on Modular Expandable Laboratory Systems, custom installation kits, and wire harnesses.

KIHOMAC is a veteran-owned aerospace and defense company that provides engineering, advanced manufacturing, reverse engineering, sustainment, and lifecycle support solutions across the aerospace and defense sectors.

Moog is a multinational that designs and manufactures high-performance technologies for aerospace, defense, industrial, and healthcare sectors — specializing in precision motion and fluid control systems for flight control and satellite components, and automated machinery.

Rise Baking Company is a leading manufacturer that serves in-store bakery and foodservice customers. With a focus on quality, innovation, and customer partnership, Rise offers a diverse product portfolio across 13 categories, including cookies, cakes, muffins, and pies.

We’re working with the Utah Department of Commerce and The Nucleus Institute to launch the Pro-Human AI Elevation Awards — honoring Utah-connected companies across all industries whose products and actions align with the state’s AI framework.

Finalists will be invited to the 2026 Utah AI Summit, and nominations must be submitted by Sept. 28.

Furthering the mission of facilitating funding for small businesses.

Our USBCI team recently gathered with partners to address credit gaps and improve access to capital for underserved entrepreneurs.

The roundtable focused primarily on demonstrating how programs like USBCI partner with banks and local Community Development Financial Institutions to blend capital and reduce risk, helping bridge the financing gap for small businesses.

This work holds great importance, as small businesses employ over 40% of Utah’s workers, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration, and contribute significantly to our overall economy.

Participants shared other insights, including strategies for navigating CRA compliance, leveraging technical assistance, and catalyzing private capital.

Rewarding times in Argentina!

As reported by Deseret News, Utah’s trade delegation visit has wrapped up, and our delegation is bringing home new partnerships and valuable insights on two pressing topics in particular: critical minerals and the Great Salt Lake.

Argentina and Utah share many goals and challenges. By working together, we can strengthen our mineral processing capabilities to support economic and security goals, and collaborate with experts and universities to identify potential solutions for our lake and its South American sibling, Laguna Mar Chiquita.

Utah and Argentina may be thousands of miles apart, but a trade mission has reinforced just how much connects us and the opportunities we have to build together.

Over the past several days, our Utah delegation has focused on turning relationships into real partnerships. One of the most memorable connections came at Mar Chiquita, one of the world’s great salt-lake ecosystems.

There we saw the story of Wilson’s Phalarope, a small bird that creates an extraordinary connection between Argentina and Utah. Each year, these birds gather at Utah’s Great Salt Lake as part of a migration that carries them thousands of miles across the hemisphere, including to Argentina and Mar Chiquita.

The mural behind us tells that story. It’ a fitting symbol for what we are trying to accomplish.

We also see significant opportunities in critical minerals, energy, innovation, research commercialization, and higher education, areas where Utah and Argentina have complementary strengths and a lot to learn from one another.

After deploying nearly 89% of its $23.5 million Tranche 2 funding, GOED’s Utah Small Business Credit Initiative is preparing to launch its upcoming round of funding.

With 62% of Utah’s total $69 million federal allocation already used, USBCI has demonstrated sustained progress in expanding access and support for small businesses across Utah.

The initiative continues to advance economic vitality and job creation, particularly across rural regions — helping to retain 80 existing positions and spur the creation of 111 new jobs.

The One Utah Summit brought together leaders from across Utah to explore what it takes to build prosperity for generations, and GOED was proud to help drive those conversations forward.

We kicked things off with the Startup State Initiative's AI Intensive, giving business owners practical tools to leverage AI and create more time for what they do best.

From there, conversations on convergence highlighted the opportunity at the intersection of Utah’s creative, experience and innovation economies — where ideas, talent and energy can flow across industries and communities.

Later, we convened a discussion on high-impact projects in rural Utah, exploring how communities can prepare for large-scale investment while addressing questions about water, land, infrastructure, and long-term benefits.

On the last day of the summit, we heard from Jefferson Moss and Margaret Busse about Utah’s Pro-Human AI initiative.

These leaders and the task force they’ve assembled are working on education, empowerment, and readiness with a sophistication and drive that is unprecedented — ensuring AI remains human-focused.

Things wrapped up with a reminder that one of our greatest opportunities is to elevate the Utah brand and protect what makes our state unique as we compete on a global stage.

Across every conversation, one thing stood out: Utah’s advantage isn’t just what we’re building, but how we build it — by connecting people, convening leaders, building trust and catalyzing opportunity.
