Carol Pomeroy - Early voting takes place from Oct 15-31 which includes one Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 5 p.m. and one Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Voting on Election Day, Nov. 3. from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at your usual voting location.

Registration can still take place during early voting where you can register and vote at the same time. Call the Board of Elections (704-216-8140, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for locations or any other questions you may have.

If you are able, early voting is the best way to go. It ensures that your vote will be counted and allows time to correct or provide any additional information that may be required. Waiting until Election Day itself could present problems if illness or inability to get to the polls occurs at the last minute..

Constitutional Amendments - DETAILS MATTER - If these are so important, why didn't the NC General Assembly pas them a laws that could be repealed if they didn't work out as intended ? That can't happen if they are added to the NC Constitution. _ VOTE AGAINST!

" referendum statement reads “constitutional amendment requiring limits on property tax increases by local governments.” However, the actual constitutional change allows the general assembly to make laws “limiting the amount by which the levy of taxes on property may increase.” There is no set rate limit statewide included in the amendment, and the language allows for exceptions which are also not specified.

Similar to the income tax, the Catawba and YouGov poll split respondents into those with more context and those without. The added statement reads, “An amendment has been proposed to limit how much local NC governments could raise property taxes. Some see it as an important step to making housing more affordable to homeowners, while some worry counties that are already struggling financially would have to cut services if they can’t raise enough tax revenue.”

- “I do have a strategy,” he said. “My strategy is to ask people what keeps them up at night. When they tell me what bothers them, I don’t give them sympathy. I give them empathy; let’s talk about it.

“Once you build a little bit of trust, you can establish that dialogue, and you can start sharing that information and look for compromise.”

Compromise, a word that seems to have fallen out of favor, in Weart’s view.

“The thing that bothers me more than anything right now is that we have lost the ability to compromise,” he said as his teacher’s background started to come out. “This country was founded on the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan. It was a compromise. We could agree to disagree and find viable solutions. We don’t do that anymore.”

Weart wants to change that, and he’s asking for your vote to do it.

NONPARTISAN COMMUNITY EVENT - We are sharing, with permission, the final plans for the nonpartisan Souls to the Polls on Sunday, October 25th, 2-4:30 pm. Open to all.

Community will meet in the sanctuary at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell, Salisbury, for prayer and song. Voters will then caravan in cars and buses to the Early Voting location in Salisbury at Rowan Community Center, Cardinal Room to vote. (the old mall, 1935 Jake Alexander Blvd. W.)

Hannah Addair - What sets you apart from other candidates in being deserving of Rowan County’s vote?

I believe the thing that sets me apart from other candidates is that I am not a politician. I am simply an extremely concerned citizen who has lived in Rowan County my entire life and is ready to see real, meaningful change take place in our community and beyond. For far too long, we have seen our farmland and forests be turned into subdivisions and dollar stores, and I want to work with the citizens of this county to learn how we can do things differently and responsibly. I am willing and excited to learn, grow and listen from, with, and to my constituents. My agenda is simple: support Rowan County, and that includes her people and her land. I am so excited for this journey with you all and I sure do hope that I have your support. Thanks for taking the time to learn about your commissioner candidates.
