From the diaries of Mae Jones, June 7, 1926:
"Oh just think I am home for three months. I can hardly realize it. Yes of course it had to rain, but dad and mother came for me just the same. However we didn’t stay for commencement. I spent: Class dues 1.00 Trunk expressage 2.25 Total 3.25"

From the diaries of Mae Jones, June 4, 1026:
"Yes the June Joyance can be marked off the list. We had a very good crowd and everything went off fine. I spent: ice cream .05"

From the diaries of Mae Jones, June 3, 1926:
"Maybe I’m not a happy girl to-night and did I ever think I would be where I am tonight. There is very much excitement as classes are over, and of course the Seniors think their school days are o’er. Mr. Holloway announced the winners in all of the contests and I am glad to say that the Bagleans are victorious. Just after Christmas we had to write up a series of lectures Mr. Holloway gave and hand in to him, but after all I wrote, I suppose he lost mine, anyway he read my name on the list of those who had never handed in any paper. Well I am glad to say that there is one wiser than all who knows that I handed it in. I must get to washing and bid the farewell until"

From the diaries of Mae Jones, May 31, 1926:
"I have been oh! so lazy today. I wonder where I will be a week from tonight, I hope on my way home. I remember very well where I was a year ago tonight it was graduating exercises, maybe I didn’t feel bad and heartsick."

From the diaries of Mae Jones, May 28-30, 1926:
"Sleepy girl will have to hold her eyes open. Yes we left here Friday at 12:30 for Chestertown. Part of us went on the bus and part in cars. For the first half I went in the bus as far as Easton, then those that were in the bus changed with those that were in the cars. Anna Coleman, Annie Dale, Elizabeth Rounds, Louise and myself all went together. When we reached Chestertown we were ushered over to the high school, where we found our hostessess. Louise and myself went home with Janet Atwater, the Episcopalian rector’s daughter. She was only a Freshman in high, but a very nice girl. Of course on Friday night we gave the operetta in William Smith Hall. After it was all over, Ed McAllister and Mr. Vonbregner walked up home with us. Mr. Vonbregner is president of student council of Washington College, and seems to be a very nice fellow. We got to bed at mid-night. But we arose at 8: o’clock Saturday morn. Mrs. Atwater and Janet showed us all around, and of course the time drew nigh when we must make our start for Betterton. We had our picnic down there and had a wonderful time. At 2:30 we left for Millington, there we were served our dinner in the community hall. Another night for the performance. It is all over and we girls eight of us are staying alone at Mrs. Bowman’s house. We had a whole gang (twenty) and closed the doors at 1:o’clock. Yes indeed, no wonder I am sleepy. I met a fellow by the name of Moffet and he escorted me home. Sunday is here and at 8:30 Louise, Jimmie Collins and myself left Millington. Jimmie brought us home in his Buick roadster. This afternoon Louise and Elizabeth have gone home. We reached Salisbury at 11:30. The bus didn’t get here until 3: o’clock."

From the diaries of Mae Jones, May 24, 1926:
"I suppose I am getting to be too much of a happy go lucky. Anyway I haven’t looked at a book since three o’clock yester-day. Tonight we all were invited to a cantata given at the M. E. Church and I went. I thought that it was very good. This afternoon I spent

By the way we elected our president of our Normal Home Association and guess who it is Irene Hastings."

From the diaries of Mae Jones, May 23, 1926:
"They always say a bad beginning makes a good ending, and I for one can say I believe it. After all of the bitter tears I shed on Friday night, the smiles presented themselves soon after, and today I went home. Yes, cousin Jim, Miss Ida Belle Wilson, cousin Bet, Betty Holloway and myself all went to Girdletree. We only stayed about thirty minutes but oh! boy maybe they weren’t precious moments to me. Just as a souvenir I have a lovely bouquet of roses and a basket of straw berries. Dear, but my dear mother, dad and sis all looked good today, they are such dears. I love them all three so much."

Happy graduation day, Sea Gulls! As our final post in our "100 Years of SU through 100 Pieces from the University Archives, we present to you programs from the 1st, 25th, 50th, 75th, and 100th graduating classes. Despite the 1950 program claiming it as the 27th (the 1949 program said it was the 25th...), the growth of SU is clearly visible, not only by the size of the institution or the size of the graduating class, but by the size of the physical program itself! This May we celebrate the closing of SU's 100th year and the commencement of SU's 101st class. (Please don't ask us how the math works, but it does!)

Post 100 of 100! In this series of posts, the archivists at the Nabb Center are highlighting 100 exceptional items that can be found in the Salisbury University Archives.
