With the recent news that the perpetrator of the Salisbury University racist vandalism was a black man, some people are starting to think that racism on campus was never actually an issue. Well we’re here to say that racism is still alive and well on campus whether the vandalism was committed by a black man or not, and this is a glowing example of it. This is a screenshot from the Salisbury University College Republicans making a pretty disgusting racist joke during the middle of the current protests against police brutality. This “joke” was in the middle of a larger discussion they were having denying racism in the police force and systemic racism in general. They even realize afterwards how awful the things they were saying make them look, and they tried to backtrack to save face. It’s also important to note the chat was disbanded shortly after this conversation took place, likely in hopes that these comments would never be able to see the light of day

This is unacceptable on a supposedly inclusive & anti-racist campus Salisbury University

Check out Episode 7 (recorded on March 31, 2020) of our podcast “The Jackasses”, this time featuring an interview of former US Senator & presidential candidate Mike Gravel via Skype. Mike Gravel was a US Senator for Alaska from 1969-1981, most famous for exposing US war crimes in Vietnam and helping end the draft by reading the classified Pentagon Papers into the Senatorial record, making it public information. Gravel later ran for President in the Democratic Primaries in 2008 and 2020, creating viral moments because of his no-f**ks-given attitude and willingness to call out his opponents boldly and openly for corruption & hawkishness.

In this interview, Gravel opens up about how he’s dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic, what he thinks of Biden’s chances against Trump, who he thought the most sinister 2020 Democratic candidate was in the Primary, the backlash he faced for declassifying the Pentagon Papers, and most importantly: Mike’s vision for the future of America’s political system: a shift towards direct democracy.

Mike Gravel has a book out now on this transition to direct democracy and why it’s the only thing in his eyes that can fix our country. Salisbury Police Chief Barbara Duncan has long been an authoritarian, right-wing tough-on-crime cop who supports the racist War on Drugs, and has turned a blind eye to local police abusing their power, such as instances like this where the Salisbury Police literally choke an unarmed 18 year old black kid. Mayor Jacob Day please live up to your left-wing reputation and fire this officer, as well as Chief Duncan for defending this horrific and racist act in the wake of police brutality that are sparking protests all across the country

The Salisbury Police released body cam footage of an arrest in which an officer put his hand on the throat of a handcuffed 18-year-old black man.
