Happy Birthday, LIAM👮‍♀️👮! Liam received a ride to school from Officer Brian Wright on Friday morning. He was the lucky winner of a raffle, and his parents arranged the ride right before his birthday!

Liam's dad told us he had a blast talking on the "loudspeaker," saying "6-7" because, why not????? Liam is turning 7! Oh, and..... It's COOL.

He shared the ride with his big sister, Evie. Officer Wright had a GREAT time! 😎🤩🥳🏈🏆🚓 Stay Safe!

Yesterday, our community came together at the Washtenaw 100 Memorial Park in the City of Ypsilanti for the 2026 Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony. Sponsored this year by the Saline Police Department and the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office, the event was a solemn and meaningful remembrance of the 13 law enforcement officers who lost their lives in service to our community.

We gathered to honor their legacy, their sacrifice, and our shared commitment to never forget the men and women who dedicated their lives to keeping others safe.

The Honorable Arianne Slay delivered a powerful and heartfelt keynote address, speaking eloquently about her father’s service as a police officer and the lasting impact of his dedication. The City of Saline Mayor, Brian D. Marl, read the proclamation, reaffirming our community’s appreciation and respect.

We were grateful for the strong representation from the Washtenaw Community College Police Academy, SafeHouse, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and the Ann Arbor Police Department's Honor Guard, council members, the city manager, and many members of our community who stood with us in solidarity and remembrance.

As we bring Police Week to a close, may we continue to honor, remember, and reflect on the heroes who served—and those who continue to serve—with courage and unwavering commitment.

To the Washtenaw 100, thank you for all you do for our Police and Fire Departments throughout Washtenaw County. For more information on the Washtenaw 100, please visit https://washtenaw100.org/

PRESS RELEASE -

Saline, MI — April 17, 2026 — On Thursday, April 16, 2026, at approximately 11:40 p.m., officers from the Saline Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Woodland Drive for a reported shooting. The caller advised Washtenaw County Metro-Dispatch that a shot was fired, but “nobody was shot.”

Upon arrival, officers determined that two adult females and one adult male, identified as acquaintances of the victim, had traveled from Detroit to Saline to confront the victim as she was leaving her place of employment. The confrontation stemmed from a prior dispute.

During the encounter, a physical altercation occurred involving three females. At some point during the incident, one of the involved females—who is a valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL) holder—discharged a firearm. The male subject fled the scene following the gunshot.

The two females who arrived with the male left the area but later contacted 9-1-1 and were located by Pittsfield Township Police at the intersection of Campbell Road and Textile Road. Both individuals, a 28-year-old and a 21-year-old female from Detroit, Michigan, were taken into custody and transported to the Saline Police Department for further investigation. The firearm involved was recovered and secured by officers.

The victim, a 26-year-old female from Lincoln Park, Michigan, sustained injuries during the physical altercation and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No gunshot injuries were reported, and no other individuals were harmed.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional details are not being released at this time. Upon completion, the case will be submitted to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review and determination of potential charges.

Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Saline Police Department at (734) 429-7911.
