As schools start across the nation, let’s fill our schools with children prepared to learn.
Start the evening before by planning clothes, lunches and daily routines. Your child can cooperate in making choices without the urgency of a morning rush.
Listen to any unfinished thoughts they may have about the day ending so
they can go to sleep knowing that you are aware of the issues they are facing and reminding them they are not alone. You can problem solve together.
Start the morning with simple but nutritious food. Remind children that you are looking forward to when you will be together again.
If your family walks a faith journey, encourage children to draw from spiritual resources within their consciousness. It will help put events into perspective and equip your child to feel capable, comforted and confident.
Ask children to remember the best, most interesting or surprising part of the day to share with you.
These preparations are equally important for your child as their filled lunch box or back pack.
Learning is a life long pursuit. Every day, make this a goal, not a requirement. Parents, you are the child’s first and most influential teachers. Let the adventure begin.
