Traffic is stopped on highway 101 in both directions, also resulting in closure of the Sherwood overpass.

Fire and safety personnel are on scene. Please slow down, follow all directions form safety personnel and watch for emergency vehicles and personnel.

The Chiefs of the Salinas Fire Department were happy to participate in the Los Padres Elementary School Back-to-School Festivities this morning! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with students, families, and staff as everyone gets ready for an exciting new school year. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ“š

As students head back to school, here are a few important safety reminders:

๐ŸšŒ Stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.

๐Ÿšธ Slow down and stay alert in school zones.

๐Ÿšถ Use designated crosswalks and make eye contact with drivers before crossing.

๐Ÿšฒ Always wear a properly fitted helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter, or skateboard.

๐ŸŽ’ Talk with your children about their safest route to and from school and remind them to stay aware of their surroundings.
