Does your child use an Augmentative and Alternative Communication System at school? Are you still trying to figure out how to use that system at home and how to integrate it into your everyday routines? Then this hands-on training opportunity is for you. The SELPA Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meets regularly to discuss topics of interest to parents and community members who take an active interest in all matters concerning special education in Monterey County. The CAC reviews and makes recommendations relating to the SELPA Local Plan and participates in other activities to support students with disabilities in our area. The CAC also assists SELPA in developing the parent education program. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., MCOE Board Room and via Zoom webinar. Shout out to the members of the Voices of the Amazing A from Alisal High School. They were part of a student panel that shared their lived perspectives as autistic students. They shared their own experiences and provided suggestions to educators who were in attendance at Monterey County's Inclusive Learning Community of Practice.
