In the early morning hours of March 9, HACM staff responded to the fire at the Casanova Avenue apartment complex in Monterey. The on-site property caretaker was among the first to alert residents and emergency responders, while additional HACM staff arrived on scene to assist with emergency coordination efforts.
HACM coordinated and paid for immediate temporary hotel accommodations at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel for displaced residents following the fire. Residents were later transitioned to the Country Inn & Suites in Marina while long-term housing placements were coordinated.
Since then, many agencies, nonprofit organizations, community partners, property owners, and local jurisdictions have supported residents throughout the recovery and rehousing process.
Today, all displaced residents have secured permanent housing.

En las primeras horas de la mañana del 9 de marzo, personal de HACM respondió al incendio ocurrido en el complejo de apartamentos de Casanova Avenue en Monterey. El encargado de mantenimiento en sitio fue una de las primeras personas en alertar a los residentes y a los equipos de emergencia, mientras que personal adicional de HACM llegó al lugar para apoyar con los esfuerzos de coordinación de emergencia.
HACM coordinó y cubrió el costo de alojamiento temporal inmediato en el Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel para los residentes desplazados tras el incendio. Posteriormente, los residentes fueron trasladados al Country Inn & Suites en Marina mientras se coordinaban opciones de vivienda permanente.
Desde entonces, múltiples agencias, organizaciones sin fines de lucro, socios comunitarios, propietarios y jurisdicciones locales han apoyado a los residentes durante el proceso de recuperación y reubicación.
Hoy, todos los residentes desplazados han logrado asegurar vivienda permanente.
