UPDATE: Quail-loving home found!!

We have a lonely coturnix/Japanese quail at our shelter who would love to join a covey of friends!

Domestic quail can make enjoyable pets (if you’re in an area zoned for backyard birds), but they do have some particular needs for safety and comfort, as well as feeding requirements. Quail cannot be housed with other birds like chickens. Please come prepared with quail-keeping knowledge.

Quinn the quail will be waiting for her new family, so please spread the word!

Meet Ivory and Lumi, two beautiful three-year-old Standard Poodles looking for loving forever homes. Ivory is white, and Luna is cream. Both girls are spayed and ready for their next chapter.

They do not have to be adopted together, although keeping them together would be wonderful if the right home is found for both. Each dog will be considered for the home that best matches her individual needs.

Standard Poodles are intelligent, athletic, people-oriented dogs who thrive with families that include them in daily life. The best homes will provide regular exercise, companionship, positive-reinforcement training, and plenty of mental enrichment. They would enjoy walks, playtime, learning new skills, and being part of an active household.

Their beautiful curly coats also require an ongoing grooming commitment. Standard Poodles need frequent brushing to help prevent mats, along with professional grooming approximately every four to eight weeks, depending on coat length and style. Adopters should plan for the added expense of grooming a large dog—and potentially two large dogs if Ivory and Lumi are adopted together—along with supplies such as quality brushes, combs, shampoo, and ear-care products.

Ivory and Lumi are good girls who deserve homes prepared to provide the time, care, exercise, grooming, and companionship that Standard Poodles need. A home able to welcome both together would be wonderful, but individual adoption may also be the right fit.

Sweet Turtle is a three-year-old Bully mix—and quite possibly a Staffy—who believes life is best enjoyed at a relaxed pace. This lovable guy is gentle, calm, and wonderfully easy to be around. He’d be happy to meet you today at the shelter between 1 and 4 p.m.

Are leisurely walks your idea of a good time? How about a quiet evening cuddled up on the couch? Turtle is probably already on board. If you’re living a laid-back lifestyle, he may be your perfect match—because Turtle seems happy to like what you like, as long as nobody expects him to hurry.

There is one important exception: cats. Turtle finds them very tempting and may transform from mellow companion into Ninja Turtle mode when one takes off running. For that reason, he should go to a cat-free home.

Thanks to our generous friends at Friends of Hitchcock Road Animal Services, Turtle’s adoption fee has been reduced to just $50. Come meet this sweet, easygoing boy and see whether Turtle is the perfect fit for your shell-ter and your heart.❤️

❤💛Handsome 1year old Forrest is a 41-pound red merle Queensland Heeler who is getting settled in and we can already tell he has plenty of love to give! He is also a smart pup!

Forrest is a pretty active, friendly, and affectionate guy who loves being around people and making new friends. He absolutely enjoys attention and is always happy to soak up some love from his humans. When he’s not getting pets, you’ll likely find him ready to head out for one of his favorite activities—a good walk!

Forrest also does well with other dogs, making him a fun companion for both people and canine friends. With his striking red merle coat and beautiful coloring, he’s definitely a head-turner wherever he goes.
