🚨 STORM RECOVERY RESOURCE 🚨

If you or someone you know has been impacted by this week’s severe storms, free hot meals are available this weekend thanks to Hot Meals USA.

🍽️ Meals will be served at:
📍 First United Methodist Church
122 N. 8th Street, Salina

📅 Saturday Meal Times:
🥞 Breakfast: 8:00–9:30 a.m.
🥪 Lunch: 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
🍽️ Dinner: 5:00–6:30 p.m.

As our community continues to recover, resources like these can make a meaningful difference for families, seniors, and individuals still dealing with power outages, storm damage, and cleanup efforts.

🥪 Menu: Sloppy Joes, chips, and a Hostess treat!

✅ Open to everyone

💡⚡ A huge THANK YOU to the Evergy crews, contractors, first responders, public works teams, and everyone working tirelessly to restore power across our region following Monday night’s severe storms.

The damage left behind by 110 mph winds has been significant, with hundreds of broken power poles, downed lines, and widespread outages affecting communities throughout central Kansas. Despite these challenges, crews have worked around the clock to restore power to the vast majority of impacted customers.

We know many Salina-area residents are still waiting for service to be restored, and we appreciate your patience as crews continue rebuilding critical infrastructure safely.

Please join us in thanking the men and women working long hours, often in difficult conditions, to help our communities recover. Your dedication does not go unnoticed. ❤️

Stay safe, continue to avoid downed power lines, and remember that restoration efforts are ongoing.

With extreme temperatures impacting our area, overnight and cooling sheltering is available for Saline County residents at:

📍 University United Methodist Church
1509 S. Santa Fe, Salina

🕓 Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m.

Please bring:
✅ Pillow
✅ Blankets
✅ Any personal items you may need overnight

If you know someone who may be struggling to stay cool or needs a safe place to stay, please help spread the word by sharing this post.

⚠️ SNAP Recipients: You May Be Eligible for Replacement Food Benefits ⚠️

If you receive SNAP (food assistance) benefits and lost food due to the recent storms or power outages, you may qualify for replacement benefits on your EBT card.

📅 Act quickly! Food losses must be reported to your local Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) office within 10 days of the loss.

✅ Report the food loss through your benefits portal or local DCF office directly
✅ Complete the required loss statement form
✅ DCF will review your request for replacement benefits

Many families may not realize this assistance is available. Please share this information with friends, family, and neighbors who may have experienced food loss during the recent outages.

Our friends at the Church of the Cross are opening their doors to the community tonight! ❤️

❄️ Cooling center available throughout the day for those still without power

This is a wonderful example of neighbors helping neighbors during a difficult time. If you or someone you know could benefit from a meal, air conditioning, or a welcoming place to be, please help spread the word.

Need a meal today? A free lunch and dinner distribution is being offered TODAY (June 10) at Tony’s Pizza Events Center through a partnership between Oak View Group, The Salvation Army, and the City of Salina.

🍽 Lunch: 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
🌭 Hot dogs, chips, and more

🍽 Dinner: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
🥪 Cold-cut sandwich, chips, and more
