Did you know the Smoky Hill River Festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary next week?!

The whole festival is a great time for the whole family with lots of fun activities, yummy food, cool art, and incredible performances.

☀️The New Dawn Singers will be the opening act for the festival on the Eric Stein Main Stage on Friday, June 12 at 11am! ☀️

🎶 To celebrate the 50th anniversary we have a couple special guests joining us- Dean Kranzler and Eddie Creer! 🎶

We will perform pieces that were new to us this year as well as favorite traditions from the past. There’s sure to be something for everyone to love!

We hope to see you there! Bring your friends and family with you. It would be awesome to have a large crowd of alumni there to sing along with us on our final number! 🎉

This week the Vocal Department is putting on 2 concerts and we would love for you to join!

Monday, May 11- Kaleidoscope Concert: ALL choirs will have a time to shine individually, and we will have a couple combined choir numbers as well. There are a few solo feature moments you for sure don’t want to miss, AND we will have our special Senior Awards and Recognitions!

Thursday, May 14- New Dawn in Concert: there will be singing, there will be dancing, there will be laughs, and there will be surprises! It’s a show like no other throughout the year!

This week- Monday and Thursday- South High Auditorium- 7pm! See you there! 🎶

Thank you to EVERYONE who contributed in anyway to help us host 5A State Solo/ Small Ensemble Festival yesterday!! We absolutely could not have done it without the many volunteers that were there in person to help with setting up Friday, working the event Saturday, helping clean up afterward, or donated money or items for the hospitality room!

I have heard many positive comments from guests in our building about how kind and helpful our festival workers were, and it did not go unnoticed that so many people went above and beyond to make the day successful.

Thank you for all you do to support our students and our music department!

Varsity Choir is bringing home the hardware!! I am so proud of these students and their hard work to earn a 1 (Outstanding) rating at State Large Group in Lawrence today!! We earned straight ones from all three judges. This is a HUGE accomplishment!

Hello South High Friends, Family, Alumni, Supporters, and any other Cougar Community Members at large! Saturday, April 25 we are once again hosting the 5A State Solo/ Small Ensemble Festival. We will easily be hosting over a thousand guest musicians from across the state of Kansas, and we are needing help!

If you are available and willing to work the event, we have a variety of job assignments to choose from as well as some awesome students to work with. You are guaranteed to hear incredible performances throughout the day as students had to be great to qualify to perform!

If unavailable that day but willing to donate something for the hospitality room such as breakfast food items, a side dish or dessert for lunch, bottled water, paper plates, plastic silverware, or anything along those lines we would be super appreciative!

It’s a full week! After State KMEA last week/ weekend, and Salina Choral Fest on Monday, New Dawn is rehearsing with the Salina Symphony and guest soloists, KWU Chorale, and SE of Saline Madrigals. Long days and late nights this week, but the Rogers and Hammerstein performance will be worth it! The concert is Sunday at 4pm at the Stiefel. Get your tickets! It will be a great family friendly concert!
