🚫 NO DRONE ZONES 🚫
The Oregon Department of Aviation and Oregon Department of Emergency Management urge all drone operators: Never fly drones over or near active wildfires. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗹𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁.

When a drone is spotted, life‑saving aircraft must stop operations—putting firefighters and communities at risk.

The consequences are serious:
💸 Up to $75,000 in civil fines
⛓️ Up to 12 months in federal prison
📵 Confiscation of equipment
🛑 Permanent revocation of pilot certificates

Before you fly, always check Temporary Flight Restrictions. If you see an unauthorized drone near a wildfire, call 9‑1‑1. More guidance: oregon.gov/aviation

Oakridge State Airport has reopened following the completion of the runway rehabilitation project!

In 65 days the runway and apron were completely reconstructed, and a second taxiway connector was added. The midfield and runway 9 end turn arounds were improved, and 4 concrete hard stands were added to better serve heavy firefighting aircraft.

(!!) Please help ensure safety and maintain the airport by remaining off of the runway and taxiways except for authorized aeronautical uses. Pedestrians and vehicles are not allowed on the runway, taxiways, and the safety areas surrounding these surfaces. Any disturbance to the freshly graded shoulders will compromise the erosion protection.

This July, Oregon will host a delegation of South Korean aviation leaders exploring opportunities in advanced air mobility, uncrewed aircraft systems, and aerospace manufacturing. Their visit includes stops across the state, including Portland, Scappoose, Pendleton, Hermiston, Hood River, and Tillamook, highlighting Oregon’s innovation ecosystem and statewide testing and manufacturing capabilities. We look forward to building new partnerships that strengthen industry, research, and workforce opportunities across Oregon.

Fire season is starting early this year. Helicopters are already being staged at a couple of our airports, including the Chiloquin State Airport and McKenzie Bridge State Airport (pictured). We’ve closed the McKenzie Bridge State Airport except for firefighting aircraft until July 8th. Closures can end early or be extended, so we encourage pilots to check NOTAMs for the latest closure and other pertinent information.

Work is underway at Oakridge State Airport! Currently the airport is undergoing a Runway Rehab project. Here you’ll see that they have ground up the old asphalt on the runway, taxiway and apron. They are now grading the new runway, taxiways, apron and shoulders to prepare for laying the base rock! This project will create a stronger runway and new concrete stands to better support firefighting aircraft and equipment.

The 4 seasonal state airports in the Cascade Mountain Range have reopened today!

As of May 1st Crescent Lake State Airport, McKenzie Bridge State Airport, Santiam State Airport and Toketee State airport are now open just in time for this beautiful weather!
