Our day #14 vendor/artist spotlight for Art Walk is:

Hi all. I'm Billie Jean Blaylock Boley. My art focuses mostly on upcycled clothing and acrylic painting; and sometimes a combination of the two. I have an art character of my own I call "That Chic". She appears in all kinds of places in my work. I also dabble in many other mediums, so you never know which ones you will see in booth! I look forward to a fun day in my hometown.

Artist and vendor spotlight #13 for Art walk on 4th Sept 26th 10am-3pm :

Meet Wanda and Tana! These two ladies are retired high school/jr high art teachers at Salem R-80 and local potters. Wanda Nickles graduated from Southwest Missouri State, Springfield with an art education degree emphasis in pottery, and Tana Kettner graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS with an art education degree emphasis in drawing and painting, but picked up the love for pottery a few years after college. They have taught pottery classes, to both adults and kids, at the Creative Arts Center for the past four years. They also enjoy having their pottery displayed together in the Ozark Heritage Artisans show/sale three times a year at the Creative Arts Center, alongside other local artisans from our community.
Stop by their tent at Art Walk and say hi!

We will do two spotlights today since we missed yesterday, one this am and one this evening!

Art Walk Spotlight #12 is:
My name is Robin Scianna-Norris and I have lived in Salem most of my life. I became interested in doing parchment art after seeing it demonstrated, and fell in love with the lace work and embossing. I order my supplies- the parchment, needle tools, acrylic plates from Clarity out of England. I have been growing my knowledge of this art for about 10 years and been selling it for the past 5 years. I make magnets, wall hangings, bookmarks, and customized pieces.
I hope to see you at Art Walk where I can show you what my art is all about!

Day #11 Spotlight is one lady with two businesses! Check her out:

Rooted & Built Design by Luke and Hannah Heithold. They create custom laser engraved gifts. They specifically like to make custom maps, etched handwritten recipes, and birth flower signs. You can contact them for custom projects as well.

Hometown Murals by Hannah Heithold. She paints large scale murals around Salem and surrounding towns and she’ll also have some paintings of her own at Art Walk this year. If you’ve ever wanted a mural but don’t want to commit to a large wall, one of her smaller paintings might be a good option!

Artist spotlight #10 for Art Walk is:

I don't have a business name, yet.
However, I think my booth will be labeled. Acrylic & Textured Art by Jess Steelman.

Hi, I’m Jess! I’m a local artist who began painting a little less than a year ago and completely fell in love with it.

I work mostly with acrylics and love experimenting with texture and dimension, especially in nature and landscapes. I love finding ways to bring movement and life into my paintings.

Painting has become a space for me to slow down, experiment, and create without needing to have everything figured out.

This will be my first time sharing my artwork publicly, and I’m incredibly excited to be part of the Salem Art Walk!

Our #9 Art Walk spotlight is:

Hi, my name is Terry Perkins and have lived in Salem for more than 50 years.. My art is called scroll saw art and I have been producing it for over12 years. I start out by locating a tree with a burl growth. The burl is removed and slabbed with a chain saw and allowed to set for a year. The long wait allows the burl to relieve its internal stresses.
A black cherry tree is my favorite wood because it is very figured. I enjoy cutting wildlife scenery, especially fishing and hunting. My favorite pattern is fly fishing at Montauk.
I enjoy scroll saw artistry and find it very relaxing, although the art work is sometimes tedious. It just takes time, patience, and a good wood pattern.
I enjoy showing my art work and participating in local shows arround Salem.

Since we missed a day today you get day #7 and #8 in our spotlight for Artists and Vendors participating in our Art Walk!

# 7 id Susan Vydra Brown is a Springfield-area artist whose work is rooted in a love of color, observation, and experimentation. She works primarily in painting and mixed media, often moving between landscape, memory, and abstraction as a piece develops.

Susan earned a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and spent many years teaching art. Now retired from teaching, she is enjoying having more time to focus on her own studio practice and to share her work with others.

She will be bringing a selection of original artwork and prints to Art Fest Salem.
