We have enjoyed our partnership with the LOA’s Roanoke Office. Sheriff Orange, Deputies, and other volunteers helped load Meals on Wheels food boxes into a refrigerated truck.

These meals were then distributed to Seniors living in and around the Roanoke Valley.

Yesterday, we, along with the Roanoke County Police Department, participated in our leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics of Virginia.

This run takes place each year prior to the kickoff of the Special Olympics Summer Games in Richmond.

Thank you to the community members that honked and waived during the run and for the patience along Route 419.

On Saturday, we had the opportunity to join other law enforcement agencies and businesses at a career expo held at the Melrose Library.

After that we joined a group of neighbors for their block party so the children could meet a Deputy as well as see how our vehicles lights and sirens work.

We cherish moments like these with the community.

Our ID-a-Kid program is up and running. We have visited Carilion Children’s as well as Glenvar Library, Vinton Library, South County Library, and Fort Lewis Baptist Pre-K.

During these events we have made numerous Safety ID’s for families so vital information can be passed along quickly in an event where your child comes up missing. We hope you never have to use them but we want to provide them for the just in case.

Follow our page to get notifications of when the next ID-a-Kid events will be.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Roanoke County Sheriff's Office has received NUMEROUS reports of scam calls once again claiming you “missed jury duty” and now owe money or face arrest. The scammer(s) is also using numbers that are associated with our Office, making it seem like a trusted source. They are also using vulgar and profane language which should be a clue that it’s a scam.

Let’s be clear:

👮‍♂️ Law enforcement will NOT call you demanding payment EVER
🎁 We definitely don’t take gift cards (Target, Apple, Google = 🚩)
📞 Threats + urgency = SCAM

If someone calls saying you’ll be arrested unless you pay right now… hang up!!
🚫 Do not call the number back.

Scammers are reportedly making multiple calls to the same number to pressure victims into paying money.

Real jury issues are handled by the courts—not surprise phone calls.

📌 When in doubt:
✔️ Don’t give out any personal information
✔️ Don’t send money
✔️ Call your local law enforcement agency

Share this with friends and family—especially anyone who might panic when they hear the words “jury duty.”
