Some of the aerial firefighting that went on today. We counted 2 SEATs (single engine air tanker) making 4 drops, a LAT (large air tanker) making 3 drops, 2 heavy duty helicopters and 1 light duty quick attack helicopter along with a air attack tactical coordinator flying circles above it all. Very impressive work from the air attack and from the ground crews.

With heavy hearts, Salem Fire & Rescue joins the wildland fire community in mourning the loss of three firefighters who died while responding to the Knowles Fire on the Utah/Colorado border.

Their courage, service, and sacrifice will not be forgotten. Our deepest condolences are with their families, friends, fellow crew members, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss.

Friendly reminder: open burning is restricted on unincorporated state and private lands in Utah County, and honestly, the mountains look better un-toasted.

They did it! 🏆

All day long, Salem Fire & Rescue had been watching, waiting, and coordinating with Salem PD so we would be ready if Salem Hills Softball pulled off the win.

And last night, they gave all of Salem a reason to celebrate.

Mayor Simons and members of the Salem City Council met the team at the fire station with cheers and high fives before the girls climbed aboard the fire trucks for a championship parade through town.

We don’t get to help bring home a 5A State Championship trophy every day, but last night was one for the books.

Congratulations, Salem Hills Softball! Thanks for letting us be part of the celebration. 💙

You may have noticed some smoke up near Elk Ridge this morning. Elk Ridge fire department is conducting a controlled house fire. They have put significant prep and planning into this and they are using as a training opportunity as well.
