Oregon Women Veterans

Oregon Women Veterans Welcome! This page is dedicated to you. Please feel free to discuss topics or post upcoming events. Of course, it also means hearing what's working.

In 2015 the Oregon Legislature passed HB 3479, which funded a full-time permanent Statewide Women Veterans Coordinator - making us one of only a handful of states to support such a position within the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA). It is the goal of ODVA and the Women Veterans Coordinator to improve advocacy and outreach to women who have served in the military, gather better data a

nd research on women veterans in Oregon, participate in policy important to women veterans, work with county, state and federal partnerships to advance the level of care that women veterans receive in Oregon, and help women veterans access the benefits that they have earned. We understand that working for women veterans means hearing your questions, problems, or concerns. With all this in mind, we approach this exciting position with women veterans and their families at the forefront of all we do. As we focus on moving forward through the many changes and challenges of the pandemic, know that we are here for you, we are listening, and we are supporting you and your families. I am looking ahead to being able to get out to meet so many you when we are able to travel again. In the meantime, be well and please drop me an e-mail or send me a message. I look forward to getting to know you. Thank you for your service, and remember, We are "Stronger Together."

Just over a week ago, the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs had the honor of hosting the biennial Oregon Women Veterans Conference in beautiful Bend, Oregon.

This inspiring event brought together more than 300 women veterans — the largest gathering of its kind in our state — to share their stories, build connections, and celebrate the strength of their community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to every participant, speaker, volunteer, and sponsor who helped make this meaningful event possible.

The Oregon Women Veterans Conference is the largest gathering of women veterans across the state offering not only an opportunity for connection, empowerment, and healing but also to recognize the role that women have held in serving our nation while in uniform and out of the military.

Without our sponsors, this event would not be possible. Thanks to their generous support, this year’s conference — taking place September 27 in Bend — continues to be offered for free for all women veterans in Oregon.

Governor Tina Kotek has proclaimed September 7–13, 2025, as Oregon Veteran Su***de Prevention Awareness Week.

This observance is a reminder of the invisible wounds many veterans carry, the importance of seeking and offering support, and our shared responsibility to create a culture of care.

Veterans and their families have 24/7 access to confidential support through the Veterans Crisis Line by:

• Dialing 988 and pressing 1
• Chatting online at veteranscrisisline.net
• Texting 838255

Together, we can ensure Oregon’s veterans know that help is available, recovery is possible, and their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

ODVA is also committed to helping veterans and their families find support, hope and connection through our website BeyondTheMilitaryUniform.com — Oregon’s hub for veteran su***de prevention resources.

The site offers tools for self-care, crisis planning, and meaningful connections, along with a comprehensive directory of mental health support. Every veteran’s journey is unique, and this resource is built to meet those diverse needs.

As we count down to the 2025 Oregon Women Veterans Conference on September 27 in beautiful Bend, the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs is proud to recognize our top sponsor: Oregon Lottery!

Oregon Lottery has been a long-standing champion of Oregon veterans and a vital supporter of the Women Veterans Conference. Their partnership reflects a deep, ongoing commitment to honoring the service of our military veterans, and their families, long after their time in service.

This mission is shared by Oregonians statewide, who voted overwhelmingly in favor of Measure 96 in 2016 — dedicating 1.5% of Lottery proceeds to programs that benefit veterans across the state.
Oregon Lottery’s motto is “Together, we do good things.” And when it comes to supporting veterans across our state, they truly live it every day.

Thank you, Oregon Lottery, for helping make the 2025 WVC possible!

On this day in 1775, the Continental Congress established what would become the United States Army — the oldest and largest branch of our Armed Forces.

For 250 years, the Army has played a vital role in defending our nation, responding to crises, and upholding our shared values at home and around the world.

Today, the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs recognizes and honors the generations of soldiers who have answered the call to serve, including the thousands of Army veterans and service members who call Oregon home.
