On January 5, 2026, the Greater Salem Federated Republican Women (GSFRW) voted to dissolve its chapter affiliation with the Federation of Republican Women following recent changes adopted by the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW).
The decision came after the National Federation of Republican Women voted to amend its mission and membership requirements. Under Federation bylaws, these changes would have been mandatory for all affiliated chapters, prompting careful review and discussion by GSFRW leadership and members.
In September 2025—prior to the NFRW biennial convention—GSFRW formally communicated its concerns to the president of the New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women. Those concerns centered on anticipated changes GSFRW would be required to adopt as a condition of continued affiliation.
Recognizing the importance of ensuring continuity and opportunity for civic engagement following the dissolution, the GSFRW Board established a new, independent, women-led Republican organization: Southern NH Republican Women. This new organization is unaffiliated with any national federation and is designed to provide an inclusive platform for grassroots involvement while remaining focused on Republican values and candidate support.
GSFRW expressed gratitude for the many dedicated women across New Hampshire who continue to serve through Federation organizations and emphasized its respect for their work and commitment. While no longer affiliated, GSFRW members look forward to continuing to support the efforts of the New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women and working collaboratively toward shared goals.
This transition marks the close of one chapter and the beginning of another—reflecting GSFRW’s commitment to strong local engagement, inclusive participation, and effective grassroots advocacy in New Hampshire.
