Throughout his career, Gary has helped people navigate complex systems, overcome obstacles, build confidence, and access opportunities that can change their lives. That commitment to seeing potential in every person is part of what brought him to Lifebridge.

This November, we’re proud to honor Gary at "Breaking Bread, Building Hope," an evening celebrating the people of the North Shore who help Lifebridge respond to big challenges in our community.

We are pleased to give a shout-out to our long-term corporate sponsors, Groom Construction, for their help in making our event "Breaking Bread, Building Hope" happen.

Over the past decade, David Groom and his team have supported Lifebridge’s mission to find a home for everyone. Over the past decade, they have helped provide meals and create safe-distancing spaces in our shelters during the COVID-19 pandemic. They have also helped raise funds for Lifebridge while frequently showing up to serve in any way they can at our shelters.

Through their work with Lifebridge, they show that strong, active communities are built with consistency with people who are willing to invest in one another.

Last week, a representative from Defend Democracy (a network of Brooksby Village) visited Lifebridge's Salem campus to speak to residents about the importance of voting. After a brief nonpartisan presentation, clients could access a database to check if they were registered to vote, and register if they weren't.

"When people are homeless, knowing where and how they can vote can be difficult," says Helen Johnson, Lifebridge senior case manager. "Having a steady address at the shelter makes that easier, and taking these first steps to voting gives them a voice in the policies that directly affect them."

On Tuesday, 10 members of the Lifebridge team attended the The Women's Fund of Essex County's 2026 Grantee Recognition Breakfast at the Danversport Yacht Club.

The event included inspirational speakers, as well as grant recipients and people who have been positively impacted by the grants.

The grantee recognition breakfast event was a motivation for Lifebridge members to continue supporting people experiencing homelessness.

Special thanks to Women's Fund of Essex County for a heartwarming and inspirational event.

Last week, we had the honor of seeing our longtime friends, First Parish Manchester-by-the-Sea. They graciously donated funds raised from their annual rummage sale to our River House shelter, which will be used to help protect and support women who face homelessness.

From hosting community events to cooking and donating shelter meals, First Parish Church has supported Lifebridge in so many different ways. We look forward to working with them in the future!



River House is the North Shore's only women's shelter, giving women experiencing homelessness the chance to heal, connect, and find stability.

Thank you, Bombas, for choosing Lifebridge North Shore as a Giving Partner! We received so many new, high quality socks for people experiencing homelessness on the North Shore.

Nothing is sweeter than people coming together for ice cream! This past Friday, Lifebridge hosted a delicious ice cream social for clients and residents at our main campus in Salem, with the generous support of Cherry Farm Creamery and Salty’s Lobster Shack at Lynch Park.

These two seasonal ice cream shops donated their remaining summer stock for our community to enjoy for free. Thanks to their support, clients and guests chose from seven different flavors at our sundae bar, from classics like vanilla and chocolate to more unique flavors like mint chocolate chip and black raspberry.

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to share some sweet memories together!



Lifebridge's Main Campus in Salem provides emergency shelter, permanent housing, program space, and a day center that is open to the public. This end-to-end support sees clients at every stage through their personal journey to stability.

This weekend, our day center at the Salem Main Campus stayed open 24/7 to keep people who are street homeless safe and supported through the Nor’easter.

Making this possible takes an incredible amount of teamwork, care, and dedication from our case managers, supervisors, and direct care staff. We’re so grateful for each and every one of them.

We'd also like to shout out a generous donor who provided Chick-fil-A so any of our Salem guests or residents could enjoy an extra special and delicious meal 🐔

Moments like these remind us what’s possible when people come together to care for one another. Thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend a little safer, warmer, and brighter for our guests.
