Here in Oregon, liberals have been pushing an anti-hard work agenda. Oregon is rated among the least working states in America. Oregon unions and socialists pushed for benefits for people who quit work to strike against their employer. Oregon’s Congressional delegation (except Bentz) voted against requiring able-bodied younger people on welfare and Medicaid to engage in community service if they were on the program for an extended period of time.

"This is the final article in a summer-long series “Portland’s War on Cars” from a new report by the Cascade Policy Institute, The Portland Transportation Disaster: The High Cost of Anti Auto Planning in Portland." It details the origin of Portland's light rail and the incredible inefficiency of the system compared to freeways.


"When Goldschmidt first proposed light rail, his real goal was to cancel the Mount Hood Freeway without losing the federal funds that would have paid for 90 percent of that highway. Fortunately for him, but unfortunately for Portland transit riders, in 1973 Congress passed a law allowing cities to cancel freeways and spend those federal funds on transit improvements instead.

Portland’s transit system then consisted solely of buses. To use the federal funds and create union construction jobs and construction company profits, and the campaign contributions that went with them, Goldschmidt hit upon the idea of building light rail.

He didn’t choose light rail because it was flexible or efficient. Instead, he picked it because it was expensive and would consume those federal dollars."

OREGON DEMOCRATS SAY THESE ARE THEIR PRIORITIES.
THAT’S EXACTLY WHY THEIR RECORD SHOULD TERRIFY VOTERS.

At a Democratic rally, they asked people what they care about:

Economy. Education. Healthcare. Environment. Human Rights.

Great.

Let’s talk about the results.

ECONOMY?
Governor Kotek’s own Prosperity Council says Oregon ranks 49th in the nation in non-farm employment growth and our unemployment rate is above the national average. The same council heard complaints across Oregon about taxes, regulations and our lack of competitiveness.

That isn’t a Republican talking point.

THAT IS THE GOVERNOR’S OWN COUNCIL.

Oregon’s state budget has nearly doubled in just 10 years, growing from about $71 billion to nearly $139 billion. Oregon is also spending more per person than many states with similar populations. At some point, the problem isn’t a lack of money, it’s a government that keeps spending more and asking taxpayers for more.

And what is Salem working on again?

More “revenue.” More funding mechanisms. More ways to reach into taxpayers’ pockets.

Maybe the problem isn’t that Oregon government doesn’t have enough money.

Maybe Oregon government has a spending problem.

EDUCATION?
After years of Democratic control and billions more in spending, Oregon still ranks near the bottom nationally in education, with students trailing the national average in both math and reading. More money. More bureaucracy. Worse results.

They say education is their priority.

Then explain the results.

More bureaucracy. More programs. More spending.

And our children are still falling behind.

HEALTHCARE?
Democrats have controlled Oregon healthcare policy for years, expanded programs and repeatedly promised better access and affordability.

Yet Oregon hospitals reported a negative $55.5 million statewide operating margin in the third quarter of 2025.

Families struggle to find providers. Hospitals struggle financially. Healthcare costs remain a major concern.

But we’re supposed to believe the people who have been writing the policies just need a few more years and a few more dollars?

ENVIRONMENT?

Oregonians absolutely want clean water, healthy forests and clean air.

They also want to be able to AFFORD TO LIVE HERE.

Oregon’s own Public Utility Commission reports that average residential electricity prices for customers of investor-owned utilities jumped from 14.16 cents per kWh in 2024 to 16.64 cents in 2025, with multiple factors contributing to those increases.

Environmental policy should protect Oregon.

It shouldn’t make working families collateral damage.

And then there’s “HUMAN RIGHTS.”

Fine.

Let’s talk about rights.

What about the rights of parents?

What about the rights of women and girls?

Oregon Department of Education guidance says schools cannot exclude gender-expansive students from athletics that align with their consistently asserted gender identity based on gender identity.

So every Democrat running for the Legislature should answer a very simple question:

DO YOU SUPPORT BIOLOGICAL MALES COMPETING IN GIRLS’ SPORTS, YES OR NO?

No political word salad.

No hiding behind “human rights.”

Answer the question.

That’s what makes this whiteboard so ironic.

They listed the economy, education, healthcare, environment and human rights as the things they care about.

THOSE ARE THE EXACT AREAS WHERE OREGONIANS SHOULD BE EXAMINING THE DEMOCRATIC RECORD.

They’ve controlled the Governor’s office and Legislature.

They’ve written the budgets.

They’ve passed the laws.

They’ve built the bureaucracy.

They don’t get to campaign like innocent bystanders to the Oregon they helped create.

So before any Democrat running for the Legislature tells you what they’re going to “fix,” ask them:

Which Democratic policies will you REVERSE?

Which taxes will you vote NO on?

Which spending will you CUT?

Which regulations will you REPEAL?

Will you stand up to Governor Kotek when she’s wrong?

Or are you simply asking voters to send Salem another vote for more of the same?

YOU PUT THE ISSUES ON THE WHITEBOARD.

While you may have seen the carefully clipped DSA version shared online, they hid the army inside the Trojan DSA horse. Here is the clipped out salute to "the socialists, the communists, the anarchists...the anarchists got the biggest shoutout, of course."

This is who they are. This is why common sense Oregonians must in November. Don't sit this one out.
