Two Motorcycle Accidents in Two Days.

Members of emergency services responded to the first motorcycle accident, which occurred at approximately 4:06 pm on June 2, 2026, at the intersection of State Road 60 West and Orchard Road.

Evidence at the scene indicate that Robert Sparrow, age 49 of Orleans, Indiana was traveling east on State Road 60, operating a black Suzuki motorcycle. As Sparrow approached the intersection of Orchard Road, a silver BMW passenger car, driven by Evelyn Lloyd, age 92 of Salem, Indiana, pulled out in front of Sparrow from Orchard Road, onto State Road 60.

Evidence at the scene indicates Sparrow applied his brakes in an attempt to avoid a collision with Lloyd. Sparrow was unable to get stopped and struck the front driver’s side area of Lloyd’s vehicle.

Sparrow was ejected from his motorcycle, struck the windshield of Lloyd’s vehicle, went airborne over the roof of Lloyd’s vehicle, landed on the south shoulder of State Road 60 and rolled into the grass, along the edge of the roadway.

Sparrow was flown to University of Louisville Hospital by air ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Lloyd refused medical treatment at the scene.

Sgt. Matt Hein is the lead investigating officer and was assisted by Animal Control Officer Mike Wimmer, Deputy Dylan Johnson and members of the Salem Police Department, Salem Fire Department and Washington County Ambulance Service.

The accident is still under investigation.

Members of emergency services responded to the second motorcycle accident, which occurred at approximately 12:38 pm, on June 3, 2026, at the intersection of State Road 135 South and Old State Road 135 South.

Deputies arrived on the scene and observed a blue 2009 Yamaha motorcycle along with a 2021 Ford truck in the southbound lane of State Road 135.

Statements and evidence gathered at the scene indicate that William Herron, age 80, of Pekin, Indiana, was traveling south on State Road 135, in his Ford truck. Herron had stopped at the intersection of Old State Road 135 and was waiting to make a left turn onto Old State Road 135. Donald Walker, age 38 of Pekin, Indiana was also traveling south on State Road 135, on his Yamaha motorcycle. For an unknown reason, Walker was unable to get his motorcycle stopped and collided with the rear end of Herron’s truck. Walker was ejected from the motorcycle, causing what appeared to be life-threatening injuries.

Walker was transported to University of Louisville Hospital by air ambulance. Herron refused medical treatment at the scene.

Det. Brad Naugle is the lead investigating officer and was assisted by Sgt. Tory Hildreth, Lt. Wayne Blevins and members of the Salem Fire Department and the Washington County Ambulance Service.

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Seizure

Washington County, Indiana (May 19, 2026) – A traffic stop conducted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department led to the seizure of multiple illegal narcotics and a firearm, along with the arrest of two individuals following the ex*****on of two search warrants.

“This case is another example of the outstanding proactive police work being done by the men and women of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office every day. Keeping dangerous drugs like fentanyl off our streets remains one of our top priorities, and this investigation likely prevented a significant amount of narcotics from reaching our communities. I’m proud of the work Deputy Ater, Deputy Reyling, and K-9 Toby put into this case, and we will continue working aggressively to hold drug dealers accountable and protect the people of Washington County,” said Sheriff Miller.

On May 14, 2026, Deputy Ryan Ater received a tip regarding a male subject, Cody Green, suspected of distributing fentanyl, co***ne, and Xanax. The tip indicated Green would be traveling in a copper-colored Ford F-250.

On May 15, 2026, at approximately 5:29 p.m., Deputy Ater located a vehicle matching that description near the intersection of Bowsman Road and Quaker Road. Deputy Ater initiated a traffic stop after observing the vehicle displaying expired registration.

Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Cody Green, 21, of Salem, Indiana, Deputy Ater observed signs of nervous behavior and requested the assistance of K-9 Deputy Paul Reyling and his K-9 partner, Toby, to conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle’s exterior.

K-9 Toby alerted positively to the vehicle, establishing probable cause for a search. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of suspected fentanyl, co***ne, ma*****na, M**A (“Molly”), legend drugs, and a firearm.

Following the traffic stop, Deputy Ater obtained two search warrants for separate properties, leading to the additional recovery of co***ne, ma*****na, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and legend drugs.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals, Cody Green and Jacob Tabor, and remains active. Additional charges may be filed pending further review by the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
