The Salem Fire Department proudly announces the retirement of Lieutenant/Paramedic Chris J. Hamilton, effective May 22, 2026.
Lieutenant Hamilton, Badge #166, was appointed to the Salem Fire Department on May 26, 1998, and was promoted to Firefighter/Paramedic on April 4, 1999.
After several years of dedicated service, Chris spent a few years serving with the Manchester Fire Department before returning “home” to Salem, where he continued to provide exceptional service while maintaining his paramedic certification and skills. On June 13, 2010, he was promoted to Lieutenant/Paramedic.
Prior to his fire service career, Chris honorably served eight years in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Specialist and serving as a Flight Medic.
On behalf of all the members of the Salem Fire Department, we thank Lieutenant Hamilton for more than 24 years of dedicated service to the Town of Salem and our department. His commitment, professionalism, humor, and service to the community have left a lasting impact.
Today, Chris will have the honor of being driven home by his son, Salem Firefighter/Paramedic Nick Hamilton.
Congratulations to Chris, his wife Kristin, and their children Matt, Nick, and Faith on this well-earned retirement. We wish you all the best in the years ahead.

We are incredibly proud to highlight Bryce, a senior at Salem High School, who is currently completing an internship with the Salem Fire Department. In addition to his internship, Bryce is a dedicated participant in the Fire Science ELO class at the high school and is fully committed to pursuing a career path in firefighting after graduation. His passion for the field and his eagerness to learn have been evident throughout his time at the station. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Battalion Chief Tim Sice and the entire team of firefighters for their exceptional support. They have been truly remarkable in their commitment to helping Bryce learn the ropes and providing him with the hands-on experience necessary to succeed in this demanding profession.
