Register for the 2026 Southern Oregon Occupational Safety & Health Conference, scheduled for Oct. 13-15 at the Ashland Hills Hotel & Suites in Ashland. To register, go to https://safetyseries.cventevents.com/event/southern26.

The conference will feature a variety of workshops and presentations designed to help employers and workers improve on-the-job safety and health. Topics include construction safety, utility services safety, fall protection, confined spaces, safety committees, human resources, industrial hygiene, and much more.

In addition to addressing many standard safety and health topics, the conference offers preconference workshops with first aid, CPR, and automated external defibrillator certification; flagger certification; and professional development.

The conference is a joint effort of the Southern Oregon Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals and Oregon OSHA.

Shine a spotlight on the unsung safety heroes in your workplace by submitting an Oregon GOSH Award nomination at oregongosh.com/honor. The deadline is 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2026.

The GOSH Conference will be held March 1-4, 2027, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. The awards will be presented March 2, 2027, as part of the four-day GOSH event. Visit the event website to learn more at oregongosh.com.

Oregon OSHA is sharing the work of Oregon Young Employee Safety (O[yes]) Coalition 2026 media contest finalists. The media contest puts a spotlight on the importance of young workers’ safety and health, with a focus this year on staying safe in the heat. The competition challenged high school students across Oregon to create compelling videos or graphic designs that inspire young workers to take the Oregon OSHA heat illness prevention online course at https://osha.oregon.gov/edu/courses/Pages/heat-illness-prevention-online-course.aspx.

This week, we are highlighting the graphic design finalist, “Work Smart,” from Bend Senior High School in Bend.
