📢 Common Council Meeting: Wednesday, June 24

The Salamanca Common Council will meet on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 7:00 PM in the Court Room of the Municipal Building.

A work session will be held at approximately 6:30 PM for the purpose of reviewing agenda items and signing bills. No official action will be taken during the work session.

Highlights from this week's agenda include:

🔹 Appointment of seasonal DPW and Police Department personnel

🔹 Consideration of a fireworks permit for the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino July 4th fireworks display

🔹 Authorization to close a portion of Main Street for Salamanca Summer Fest on July 11

🔹 Consideration of a joint NYS Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WIIA) grant application with the Salamanca Board of Public Utilities for sanitary sewer system improvements

🔹 Appointments by the Mayor and Common Council

Salamanca voters in Wards 1 and 2 will have to head to another polling place for the Primary Election on June 23.

Election Commissioners Kevin Burleson and Cortney Spittler announced the poll site for City of Salamanca Ward 1 and Ward 2 voters has been temporarily relocated for the June 23, 2026 Primary only.

To vote in person for the upcoming Tuesday, June 23, 2026 Primary Election, voters in these two wards should appear at the Riverside Chapel located at 134, Broad St., Salamanca, NY 14779. (This is also the existing poll site for voters in Ward 4.) To enter the poll site, voters may park at the rear entrance on Front Avenue.

“Please remember this change is only in effect for the June Primary Election. We anticipate that voting will return to the usual site for the November General Election,” said the commissioners.

🎭 Registration is Now Open for Arts Alive! 🎭

The Salamanca Youth Bureau, is excited to offer Arts Alive, a FREE Summer Youth Theater Program for students in Grades 1–12 (Ages 5–18).

Participants will build confidence, creativity, teamwork, and performance skills while working together on a summer theater production in a fun and supportive environment.

Location: Ray Evans Seneca Theater, Main Street, Salamanca
Program Dates: June 30 through August 21
Eligible Participants: Grades 1–12 (Ages 5–18)

Please note: Practices during Weeks 1 and 2 will be held at the Salamanca Youth Center.

Common Council Meeting Agenda: June 10, 2026 at 7:00 PM

The Salamanca Common Council will hold two public hearings before considering several resolutions and appointments.

**Public Hearings:**
• Proposed local law amending City Charter residency requirements for City Court Judges
• NY PLAYS grant application for a new playground, fitness equipment, and splash pad project

Key Agenda Items:
• Adoption of the City Court Judge residency local law
• Acceptance of a $2.5 million NY PLAYS grant with a $500,000 City match for playground, fitness, and splash pad improvements
• Authorization for the City Attorney to begin tax foreclosure proceedings on City-owned properties with unpaid taxes
• Approval of an $11,216.70 change order for the Youth Center roof project funded through NY BRICKS grant funds
• Purchase of 144 Fawn Avenue for $77,050 using grant funds
• Purchase of 124 Fawn Avenue for $55,000 using grant funds
• Appointment of Hannah Poling as Full-Time Salamanca Youth Bureau Recreation Attendant effective June 15
• Authorization of a Salamanca Youth Center mural project designed and created by Rowan Brown
• Mayor and Council appointments
• Payment of bills and departmental reports

The meeting will be held Wednesday, June 10, at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Building Court Room. A work session will begin at approximately 6:30 PM. No official action will be taken during the work session.

Notice of Public Hearing:

The Common Council of Salamanca, NY has scheduled a public hearing for June 10, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Regular Common Council meeting to be held in the Municipal Building Court Room, 225 Wildwood Avenue, Salamanca, NY. The purpose of the hearing is to obtain citizens’ views and comments relative to the submission of an application to New York State Parks and Recreation New York Places for Learning, Activity, and Youth Socialization (NY PLAYS) grant. This project includes the installation of playground equipment, fitness equipment and splash pad equipment on City owned property.
