At approximately 7:07 a.m. this morning, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to an automatic fire alarm located at 400 Central Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered heavy smoke conditions originating from the fourth-floor parking garage. Crews quickly located two fully involved vehicles and established a water supply to the fourth floor and began fire suppression operations.

A total of 20 Fire Rescue units and approximately 40 firefighters responded to the incident. Firefighters were able to rapidly extinguish both vehicle fires, preventing the fire from spreading beyond the two vehicles and limiting damage to the immediate area.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported and the cause of the is currently under investigation.

We want to thank all responding fire crews for their rapid response and continued commitment to keeping our community safe. ๐Ÿš’ ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ”ฅ CAMP IGNITE 2026 ๐Ÿ”ฅ

As the City of St. Petersburg continues to expand youth opportunities and programs, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue is excited to grow this yearโ€™s Camp Ignite! Our goal is to help build the future of emergency response from within our own community by fostering leadership, confidence, and interest in the fire service among local youth. Camp Ignite is the perfect opportunity to inspire and engage the next generation of hometown heroes.

This free, inspiring three-day camp for girls ages 12โ€“17 is organized and led by St. Petersburg Fire Rescue personnel. Participants will gain hands-on experience through activities including fire hose operations, vehicle extrication, rope rescue drills, team-building challenges, protective equipment familiarization, and CPR certification valid for two years.

On May 12โ€“14, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue hosted a Rapid Diver training at Maximo Park alongside regional partners from Tarpon Springs, East Lake, Oldsmar, Clearwater, Madeira Beach, and St. Pete Beach Fire Rescue.

Each day, 30+ divers trained in real-world scenarios involving submerged vehiclesโ€”locating, accessing, and rescuing victimsโ€”followed by vehicle recovery operations using lift bags.

This hands-on training strengthens coordination and prepares our teams to respond quickly and safely when it matters most.

Great Job and well done to all who participated! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘๐ŸŒŠ
