Mayor Welch and the City Council claim to care about the youth of St. Pete. Yet, our youth keep dying from gun violence. The community says that we need more free youth programming, particularly for teenagers. Tell Mayor Welch to fully fund youth programing and active outreach to our youth NOW!

On Thursday, September 3rd at 5pm, we will show up and speak out for Save Our Streets at the first St. Pete City Council Budget Public Hearing.

Show up and speak out with us and tell Mayor Welch and the City Council how they're gonna use OUR money.

We need to show up and demand council members and the mayor prioritize accessible equitable youth programming! Share what community hungers for most.

We got Books and Breakfast on Saturday, August 22! (Note: this is the only B&B this year NOT on the LAST Saturday)

Black August is a month to honor the prison rebellion of George Jackson, honor the history of Black resistance, and to continue to fight for all political prisoners and all oppressed people ⛓️‍💥✊🏾 This month, we’re partnering with several organizations holding events across Tampa Bay as part of this week of action! We're honoring the legacy by sharing the connection between Save Our Streets & END FIBA as it relates to Black & Palestinian liberation 🇵🇸.

We WILL win these campaigns, and we WILL win our collective liberation.

General Body Meeting TONIGHT Wednesday, August 12! Our GBMs are revamped and will focus on getting that work done 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 come through to build power for the Save Our Streets Campaign as well as moving our general work forward, like Books and Breakfast. This will be a great opportunity to actively participate in campaigns!

Bring your laptops to make it easier to do the work on larger screens. 💻

We’re re-structuring our General Body Meeting to better meet the needs of our programming! The remainder of our GBMs for the year will be work sessions to continue moving the work in our various committees.

Additionally, our October GBM originally proposed to be in Tampa will now be in our usual spot at the Allendale Church.

We hope you can continue to join us to learn how you can support our 3 committees with our Save Our Streets Campaign, Palestine liberation work, and our general programming.

Join us for a Ballot Bust down at Books and Breakfast on Saturday, July 25th! With the primary election coming up on August 18, learn about non-partisan information to see where people stand on the issues, get resources, and how to use your electoral power. 🗳️

We know that electoral politics is one tool in our toolbox, not the end all be all. Voting can shape the political terrain we fight in until we achieve total freedom and liberation. 💪🏽

In Honor of Pride Month, we will be discussing the intersection of Black Q***r liberation and Labor movements. Learn how Black q***r advocates fought for better working conditions for everyone and how these movements intertwined.

On Friday evening, May 22nd, tragedy struck another family impacted by gun violence.

Gaige Santos-Brown was a 14 year old child, who alongside the three teenagers who attacked him, should've been in a safe place where they can play, learn, and just be. 🤸🏽⛹🏽‍♀️👯‍♂️👨🏽‍🎨

As the funnels more money into the police and claims we don't have enough in the budget for the youth, fewer resources are going back into communities in dire need. Save Our Streets is one initiative meant to get money back into the community by covering the cost of summer programs and creating a team going door to door guiding families on programs currently available in the city.

This hands on approach helps alleviate the stress of navigating a complicated system and allows parents to ask questions and remove obstacles that prevent youth from accessing programs today.

Gaige deserves to be alive, and the city clearly ain't doing enough to make sure this never happens again.

We must pressure the city of St. Pete to prioritize Save Our Streets and other people's budget items until we have a just and equitable society. ✊🏽

Join us for our Books and Breakfast program on Saturday, May 30! This month, we are honoring African Liberation Day - a day to celebrate Pan-Africanism and that we are united through our struggles ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 We commemorate how African countries fought for their independence and together we'll learn how they continue to defend against colonialism and practice inter-dependence across the African continent 🌍

A tradition of African Liberation Day is to wear white as a symbol of unity, so please wear white! 🤍
