This juvenile Florida cottonmouth (venomous) was seen safely crossing our entrance road 🐍 Why? Well to get to the other side of course!

Did you know that cottonmouths are born with a bright greenish tail tip (like this little guy) which they use as bait to lure in prey?! As they grow into adults, this bright coloration fades and their overall color pattern darkens.

Learn more THIS Saturday at 10:30am in the Auditorium for a lecture all about snakes with George Heinrich. Including a chance to view and handle live snakes, the non-venomous kind. 💚

Weedon Island Preserve is such a special place because of the incredible hard work, energy, and time they pour into it. Whether they are greeting visitors at the front desk, leading a guided tour, or working behind the scenes to maintain the trails, they are the heartbeat of this preserve. We are so appreciative of this incredible team, we truly couldn't do it without them!

THANK YOU Volunteers!👏🎉
