We are blessed to live in such a wonderful community and our public schools are a large part of it. These schools are responsible for educating our children. It is a huge responsibility and I have tremendous respect for our teachers who are dedicated to making a difference in our students’ lives. Our teachers cannot do it alone. They need strong principals who set the tone for their schools, dedic
ated school board members who make policy that empowers teachers, and parents who take an active role in their child’s education. As the daughter of a teacher, a longtime resident of Pinellas County and a journalist in this community for nearly 20 years, I am ready to roll up my sleeves and do the hard work to continue to improve our school district. My ABC platform involves making sure all are Accountable for a child’s education, restoring the Basics in our classrooms as we provide a world-class education, and giving students the Choices they need to flourish. After all, our children don’t get a second chance with their childhood education. Every day in the classroom counts and we don’t have the luxury of time when it comes to getting it right.
