Ten Years Later, We Remember🏳️‍🌈

On June 12, 2016, forty-nine people walked into Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida and never came home. They were sons and daughters, partners and friends, many of them young Latino members of the LGBTQ+ community celebrating Latin Night.

Their names deserve to be spoken:

They were 18 to 50 years old. They had dreams, inside jokes, favorite songs, people who loved them fiercely.

We remember them not just with grief, but with the commitment to build a world where every person can live, dance, and love freely without fear.

🏳️‍🌈Join the Stonewall Democrats of Pinellas County as we continue the energy from last month’s meeting at our Stonewall Democrats of Pinellas- April Meeting!

This month, we’re excited to welcome Jennifer Webb as we celebrate her recent election to the Gulfport City Council.

We’ll also hear from Esther Sanni , President of the St. Petersburg branch of the NAACP, who will discuss ways to strengthen unity between the Black and LGBTQ+ communities in Pinellas County, and how the Democratic Party can better engage and recruit members of color.

Additionally, we’re honored to be joined by Steve Kornell, the first openly 🏳️‍🌈LGBTQ+ person elected to the St. Petersburg City Council. He’ll share insights on building unity within the Democratic Party and what a winning strategy looks like.

We’ll also hear directly from candidates currently running for office, each given equal time to share their vision with our community.

Today, The Stonewall Democrats of Pinellas County celebrate Trans Day of Visibility alongside our trans siblings. Visibility matters. It affirms identity, honors resilience, and reminds us that everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and protected.
